A very brave woman passed away yesterday. Irena Sendler saved the lives of some 2,500 Jewish children trapped in the Warsaw Ghetto during WWII. After she was caught, the Nazi's tortured her, breaking her legs and feet, to get her to give up the names of the children, their protectors, and the other Resistance workers. She never gave up the information, and was rescued going to her execution. After the war, she attempted to reunite the children with their families, although most of them died in the death camp at Treblinka. She was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007. She was 98.

I hope this site is alright. I felt it better than a simple newspaper article.
