God

In all seriousness though, I'd say Claude Monet, Salvador Dali, and while not exactly a painter, M.C. Escher is one of my favorites.

Vincent van Gogh and Norman Rockwell are my two top favorites. I have others that I enjoy, but those two seriously blow me away. XD

I like some of Renoir's work. I also like Georgia O'Keefe. Monet is nice too, but who doesn't like Monet? XD

I think we should be careful of posting links to our favorite painters. Especially since some of them painted nudes.:wow!:

Yeah, and a lot of them depicted a lot worse than that. XD

Nudity? In my classical art?

It's more likely than you think!

After taking a semester of art history, I cannot say how much this makes me laugh. XD

Though as per CAA's rules on nudity, I do agree. XD Feel free to post certain works by artists that are your favorites, though.

Bernini, but of course, I like his sculpture better. He's my favorite painter, but not for his paintings =D Same with Michelangelo.

Also Fujisaki Ryu, but I like him better as a mangaka.

OK, I'LL STOP SUCKING NOW.

Otherwise? iono, maybe Monet. Also this kid who went to my high school. *shrug* I'm not really artsy-fartsy.

What about Vassily Kandinsky? I assembled a 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle of his Balancement not long ago. That alone endears Kandinsky to my heart. XD

Also, Monet. I mean, Monet's a popular painter, right? I mean, dang, even Pink Floyd sang about him! "Monet. . . it's a hit. . ."
On a serious note, Monet's artwork looks like it'd make a more difficult jigsaw puzzle than Kandinsky.
I am absolutely terrified that I recongnize all of these painters by name. WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO ME? I used to be able to walk up to any piece of art and say "Wow that guy has some issues, not to mention a weird name, I am glad that I don't know the story behind this". Now I cant. Curse you, you 2/3 of a semester art history class which is required for my degree! Curse You!

Me.
I do, however, like his Rouen Cathedral.

Surprisingly, after two months of art history, I still haven't found an artist that I really like. I do sort of like a few artists, though:

Joseph M.W. Turner because of his cool, murky style.
Salvador Dali because he is one of the best of the totally insane painters.
Paul Klee, at least Twittering Machine, because of his refreshing use of soft colors along with his manic stick figures.
Roy Lichtenstien because of his geeky comic book style.
Also, I have much respect for Hyperrealistic style painters.

Oooh. Bernini's sculpture is brilliant. BTW have you seen Simon Schama's segment on him (BBC, The Power of Art)

*u* Yes! I saw his Apollo and Daphne and Rape of Proserpina at the Galleria Borghese in Rome and just about had an-- a, a seizure. It was AMAZING, I don't think I've ever seen anything so cool.

That sound you heard was my envy meter blowing. Anyways, you'll probably like Schama's series, or at least parts of it, depending on your taste in painters. From my own perspective, the first two episodes were by far the best (Caravaggio and Bernini respectively).

I was going to mention him! :P

But seriously, when I took my art class last semester, I decided to do my final project (we had to do any art project based on the style of an artist or art movement) based on his style of painting comic books. In this case, I did a panel out of a manga, so I guess it could be two styles I was doing. I'd say it turned out pretty nicely.

So...anyone want to see it? *is brush'd*
