Stick it to the end of your youtube videos and... well...
Before:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0uB1kTivMc
After:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0uB1kTivMc&fmt=18
You can also do &fmt=6 for an even sharper image, but the loading time will be substantially increased.

I tried it on a Rick Roll video.
No difference.

I didn't notice a difference on the first video until I put &fmt=6. But wow, what a difference. o.o If this works on all videos I'm gonna be doing it constantly. XD
Hmm...seems like it only really works on some videos, probably the ones that were ripped at higher quality.

Increases the quality by varying amounts, depending on the original quality.

Right. The concepts of GIGO apply here. The best quality you can get from this can't be higher than the quality of the original file uploaded to YouTube.

Let me try it again.

EDIT: Oh, wowz...much better! The lettering pops now. Not so sure about my hands, though, but at least there's a difference.

o_O MAGIC.
So why doesn't YouTube have an option for this? Bandwidth or something?

It's been available for a while now for testing purposes. I first ran into this almost 3 months ago. Some of em work amazingly well.
