Vic Mignogna needs your help with an outreach ministry! (Really! Yes, you!)

Hi Everyone!
Vic Mignogna, a Christian voice actor who has played roles in a great many anime (see wikipedia page for more info:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vic_Mignogna ) has contacted us about a ministry he's starting.
Vic Mignogna wrote:The Lord laid it on my heart last year to do something to help get the Bible into the hands of all these fans that would never normally read it. So guess what I did... I recorded the entire Gospel of John. Yep, all 21 chapters, and put some characterization into it as well. I even used the Message version so it's very contemporary. Then I composed and played piano under the whole thing to help make it more enjoyable to listen to. I intend to give it away FREE to fans at anime cons. Can you imagine it? We can get them to listen to the Word of God! Who knows what amazing ways God can use this outreach.
Here's where you come in. I need people to financially contribute to having the discs pressed. I am getting contributions from my church, friends, etc and I thought this would be right down CAA's alley.
If you would like to contribute to this project, simply use the "donate" button at the top of the screen. For the entire month of February (edit: and the rest of Janurary), any and all donations we receive will be tallied and we'll make one huge donation. I know many of you have been looking for a way to use CAA as an outreach opportunity, and the staff feel this would be an AWESOME way for us to help make something like this happen. I've done some quick calculations, and if all the active members donated even just 5 dollars (that's what, a single lunch?), we put together over a thousand dollars.
As some of you might remember, Vic Mignogna graced our chat a while back and spent some time answering our questions and just generally hanging out with us. For those of you who want a trip down memory lane, you can check this out:
http://www.christiananime.net/showthread.php?t=24093So what do you say? Can you help?
Edit: If you cannot (or will not) use paypal, please PM me and we'll find something that will work for you. If you just don't have a paypal site they're really easy to setup.

EDIT: It's very easy to sign up for a paypal account. Details here:
https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=xpt/cps/general/NewConsumerWorks-outsideAll you need is a credit card and an email address. If you're just going to be donating, you don't have to have a bank account behind it.

Wow, that it just awesome! I don't have access to a credit card, so I'll just have to PM you to figure out a way to send the money, but I'd definitely like to donate one of these days.
I'll be praying that it turns out to be a big success... but judging by how popular Vic Mignogna is, I wouldn't be surprised if it was. XD It's hard to think of a better way to spread God's Word among anime fans. I'm so excited~

O_O I was just thinking today of asking for Bible Donations to send to him for his Sunday Services... but this idea seems a little more interactive. ^_^
TOTALLY I'll bug my mom about it XD she owes me moneys anyways
Vic is truly an amazing guy for Christ and he REALLY cares about his fans... I never thought that anyone would actually act out the a book from the Bible like that. How Nifty!
It truly tears me up, how many kids that we can witness to through anime conventions....there are so many kids out there who really are hurting... This is truly a genius idea.

OK. We've hammered out an "alternative" for those of you who don't have access to paypal or a credit card. Just send me a PM.
CK:
That's awesome! I look at this kinda like those old "gospel of john" mini-bibles that traveling ministers used to give out. Only it's more modernized.
Kairi:
No problem! Please check your PMs.

Can we get it authenitcated as being from Vic first?I'm sorry but with the way the internet is one shouldn't just jump into either endorsing or supporting something like this unless it has been totally checked out so can you ask Vic if this is really him?
Can you ask him also what kind of financial accountability he is using to make certain that the money is all being used in the way he wants it and that there is no misuse of the funds.
Again one just has to be careful about these things as too often people have been taken to the cleaners by people misrepresenting projects, etc.
Not that I don't disbelieve you I would rather be on the safe side of things when it comes to things like this.

Vic contacted us. We wouldn't post something that was random hearsay.
As far as financial accountability, you'd probably have to ask him yourself. From what I've heard he's paying for the production of these discs out of pocket, so I would imagine there is no infrastructure to monitor this. Your money is your own, so you can decide whether or not you feel Vic is worth your trust.

It's ok to be cautious, but honestly.. I don't think this is a scam
Things such as these can be pretty shaky, but all we can do is have faith that our money will be put to good use. Like UC said,"Our money is our own.. " No one is forcing you to donate anything, but if you do it'll be greatly appreciated
*Hopes nothing above came out wrong* O__O

While I cannot vouch for OTHER people's donations, I will point out that members of the staff (as well as I) are fiscally tied to this project already. If it's any consolation to you, *I* at least feel it's legit; I've been corresponding with him on the matter.
It's good to be concerned with accountability, but I think I'd rather give him some flexibility on this one. After all, I'm not going to be deducting this on my taxes - I'm considering it a "treasure in heaven," I guess.

For what it's worth about his credibility, I've heard a sample from this CD so it really does exist. I plan on donating with my next paycheck.

Excellent! As I understand it, the technical and artistic pieces are finished, and the easiest way to help out is to donate. If you're not comfortable donating via Paypal, just send me a PM and I can give you alternatives.

Sweet... Too bad I won't be going to any anime conventions this year (no job and the only big payment I'll be making is for GDC or E3, depending on whichever one I choose) I'd love to talk to him about this project.
I'll see what I may be able to do... That's pretty awesome... If only the same sort of thing existed in the gaming arena...

Cool! We've still got a few weeks to go, so you can take your time if you need to.
