CAA: Christian Anime Alliance

Hi

I am wondering how involved most people here are in church. Do you just attend a weekly service? Are in you a small group or bible study through your church? Do you serve in a ministry?

Are you happy right now with that level of involvement?

I'm an altar sever at my church when we have services. I really should go to St. Benedict's when we don't, but I tend to stay up late...

As is evidenced by the post time.

truthfully, it varies for me...

It's really painful to admit this, but my church just seems so wierd right now... There are some weeks where I just don't go because my family doesn't get up in time. I hate missing church, truthfully, I do. My church once felt at home to me, a place where I could go and just have a great time fellowshipping with my Church Family.

But ever since I graduated high school, and started college, the church seems different; less welcoming and I can't remember the last time I talked to my pastor, or his wife. Whereas, before they were active people in my life...

I don't want to become another statistic; you know the one that says College students stop attending church suddenly and dont' return until their mid-20s...

I know that going to chruch isn't somethign that *I* should get out of it. It should be something that *I* Give to God... a form of worship...

but I really don't feel as welcome as I used to...and I miss it...truly I do....it hurts so much sometimes, and it scares me I don't want to get to the point were I stop caring. I don't want to be apathetic about church, I love my church family... it's...just odd now. And there's really nothing for College students to do...

Maybe... I just need to focus on God more, or something. Maybe I haven't been focusing on Him enough, and so I am feeling so low about it.

EDIT: I am actually excited to go to church this morning! ^_^ It feels good!

I know how you feel. My home church feels that way when I visit. But thankfully I found a church by my college that has an amazing college group. It's led by a barber who is our unpaid college minister. He teaches very Biblically, teaching the meaning in the original Hebrew or Greek. We'll continue studying James in the spring, talking about the tongue.
I go on Sunday morning. 9:30 for Sunday School, 10:45 for the contemporary service. We also have a non-denominational worship service on Tuesday nights for college students called TRUTH that is taught by an ex-Muslim. Pretty cool. I was only able to go a couple of times last semester --hopefully I can go more now.

I teach grade 3 and 4's "sunday school" but we call it Upstreet. My church has two services, so I do this every sunday at 10 and I go to church for the 8:30 service before ^^

Kyaaa.... I had an amaazing time at church today..so much that my previous post really doesn't make a lot of sense any more... I mean it does...in a way...but today just seemed so much better than previous weeks!

God even called me to start doing illustrations in our church bullitens (which usually have LOTS of white space) Pray for me, as I think of Godly illustrations for my congregation...

ANND I got asked to help paint the youth room this week! It was a really great day!

My church has three services: 9:00am, 10:30am, and 6:00pm (was 6:30 in '07). I serve in two bands playing bass guitar - one morning and an evening. I'm most likely to go to the evening one pretty much every week (play on average twice a month), and we play in both morning services once a month.

I have done the "overcommitting myself" thing before, and I don't really want that to happen, so I'm happy with my level of involvement.

I go to church every Saturday night with my mom, and I go to a small group meeting every Wednesday in the evening. There's a high school ministry on Sunday nights that I used to attend regularly, but they haven't had a regular service in awhile (it's always been some sort of game night or "progressive dinner." -_-).

I'm in the church orchestra (as a clarinetist), in a senior girls small group (a crazy senior girls small group XD), I go to sunday bible study (aka "sunday school") and I participated in the Christmas play (as an dancing angel). Oh--and I attend both services (well half of the first one (9:15 am) due to orchestra).
Hmm, I'm happy with that level, but I wish to go higher (however, I'm going off to college in a few months...).

Well when I was younger I used to attend church every Sabbath with my mom and brother, was even part of Sabbath School and sang in the choir sometimes. Meetings were held on Sundays and Wednesdays to plan for events like camping. Bible study is held each Friday to begin the Sabbath. I plan to attend once again after dealing with certain matters that only God help with.

I work at the book shop run by my church on Sundays. We're open an hour before and after the morning and evening services, so in between I attend at least one of the services. I also go to a bible study group on Wednesday evenings.
When I stop working at the shop, I’ll probably attend the evening service regularly as this is more aimed at young adults.

I have attended morning services in the past, but due to my work I have been only able to attend the two college bible studies during the week.
I have severed part time in the ministry on and off, in the orchestra and praise band substitute.

- Regularly attend weekly services in a few churches. It depends on where I'm at, at that time since I travel quite a bit.

- Currently in a young adult cell group. We meet almost every week and participate in home blessings/corporate prayers and general church events as a group

- Ministering in the International Student and Young Adults Ministry. Occasionally support another ministry on an ad hoc basis (e.g. Drawing something for youth ministry, short-term project or helping with deco/props for some outreach project)

- Reconsidering the level of involvement since I may be overloading myself. But I truly enjoy the participation ^_^

I'm the typical involved member: attend services, participate in a small group, help at events, handle something extra (in my case audio-visual). Nothing very exciting.

Lessee... I'm there just about every Sunday in a "normal member capacity." I'm part of the drama team, which does a skit during worship every couple of weeks, and a seperate drama group that does kid stuff Sunday nights. I'm pretty deeply involved in the college ministry which gets together every other week. AND I used to play cello in the praise band for a little while (I can't juggle it with the drama). I'd like to be doing something art-oriented too, but I haven't quite figured out what yet.

I go once a week usually. I attend small group when I can. Church is going down hill and I can't see myself continuing to go if things persist the way they're going. I'm not sure what I'm going to do about church for college, we'll see. Seeing as I see church as more and more of a waste of time I think I'm happy simply fellow shipping with the people around me in said environment once a week or so.

Are church has only one service a week....I try to be as activly invovled in various things as I can (though, mainly it's youth group stuff....which is always fun)...What I love about my church is everyone there is family, even during the hard times...It's becuase of these hard times that my church family still exists......

I've grown up in that family....which I find to be great.....I find it really sad that a lot of churches today often lose that togetherness of family....and I hope and pray that one day we can come together without all the theoretical correctness and realise that it was never about us and our plans but all about Him.....
