Well, it is done. I will have, soon, in my hands, a brand new Bachelor of Arts in Asian Studies (minor in poli sci).

I have graduated from college, and hopefully will be on my way up to Portland to start work in the near future.

It's a long and arduous process, but I did it. And somehow, God has got something good in store for me. I don't know what, but I'll wait for it. :)

Congratulations. If you don't mind my asking, what profession would one enter into with an Asian Studies degree?

I'm thinking ambassador would be the ultimate, but it’s not like you can just apply for a job like that.

College professor. At my school, we had Asian Studies courses that they pushed strongly for both Business and Engineering students to take. You can really see the reason for it at my job. The managers all seem to be traveling somewhere in Asia about half the time.

Well, eventually I would like to end up as a college professor (That's up to God, though. Jeremiah 29:11). I've been interested in studying Japanese consumer culture, and I know that there are some subjects of Japanese life that are rarely taught.

The next step is getting over to Japan to actually start research in some way, shape, or form.

The real answer to the question, "What do you do with an Asian Studies degree?" Go to Japan on a research grant! Brilliant!

Exactly. I just have to keep reminding myself day after day of that fact.
