Naruto Trek Convention

Postby KhakiBlueSocks » Tue Oct 23, 2007 1:50 am

I was surfing around during my lunch break, when I uncovered this on ANN: a NARUTO/STAR TREK convention--"Naruto Trek". Basically it's a Star Trek Convention melded (pun intended) with a Naruto Convention.

Is this a wild idea or what? Here's a link: http://www.narutotrek.com/

At last report, the english VA of Naruto, MAILE FLANAGAN, is going to be there. Not much else news, but since the convention isn't until March '08, there's still plenty time for more guests.

That... sounds like a pretty lame idea. Although in all honesty, I can't make much of an opinion on that.

I actually find that pretty interesting....Why?

Becuase I have some friends who are really big Star Trek fans and I know enough about Naruto to actually buy a cosplay outfit (of whom, I have no idea), meaning that would definetly be something I'd find interesting to go to, enough to invite those friends. As stupid as it sounds, it's looks like the next step toward bringing Trekies and anime freaks together.....

I just wonder why the Trekkers decided to pick NARUTO. Surely there are more SciFi anime to combine the power of Trek with...

That does seem fairly random. I would hope those two series don't appeal to the same audience (at least not the obsessed fashion). For those who have perused the website, does it contain anything notable?

Weird . . . Star Trek and Gundam I could understand, but Naruto? Why?

Actually, it's probably just a case of grabbing the most popular title at the moment.

However, it does conjure up a few interesting mental images of Picard wearing the metal headband on his bald scalp.:lol::lol:

Seriously, I agree with Danderson:

I have always wondered what would happen if Trekkies and Otaku get together in one place?

You get Otretakkieus, of course.

It's... different, I'll give them that. And I'll take that Trek badge with the Konoha symbol on it in exchange.
The cake used to be a lie like you, but then it took a portal to the deception core.

Yes, it sounds weird, but its not as weird as the Macross/DBZ con that happen a few years back.
