Well
My chat decided not to work, so hopefully the necros that lurk in the chat room will read this.
Ekhem.
The Canadian dollar, wait for it... ABOVE THE AMERICAN.
Just wanted to put that in.
Not boasting or anything.
BUT YEAH, ITS WORTH MORE.
=D
Indeed.
That is all... :shifty:
I am sad that my chat doesn't work, so this is the only means I have to communicate my feelings...
PCE!

That would make... everything in canada even MORE expensive than in the US, since the prices are higher anyways, at least books and magazines.

I know the vast majority of us are under 40 so we would have no reason to know this but the Canadian and US currencies used to trade back and forth frequently. In November of 1976, the US dollar topped the Canadian dollar for good - until this month.
The weakness of the dollar is bad for us when traveling or buying things abroad (a huge part of our economy) but it's good for American businesses and American tourist attractions.
I hope the Canadian and US currencies stay close – it will be good for both of us.

Sort of. The list prices on items such as books mostly reflect the old exchange rates, and have not been brought into line yet. The publishers also don't seem to be in any hurry to correct this either. Realistically, a lower Canadian dollar is probably better for us over all since it gives a boost to our exports, and to other industries that rely on foreign business (e.g. film-making).

mean less of them will come down now.

Well at least for the time being. I'm sure if it hangs out there the prices will change.

Are you saying that America's first president, George Washington, is worth as much as Canada's first president, a duck?

Right now, I think the duck is actually worth more.

It depends on where you live though. For us who actually live close to
Canada and for those in Florida and Arizona where the Canucks go to retire the change will probably be felt more than someone who says
lives near the Mexican border.
