No CAA for Nia?

Postby Nia-chan » Mon Oct 15, 2007 12:12 pm

Hey guys, I just have a quick question
When I'm at college, I can't get on to the CAA website at all, from any computer, but when I'm at home it works fine. Is there a reason I can't get on at campus, and can it be fixed?
Thanks

Colleges tend to have weird firewalls and Internet filters and things. For example, at my college, I can't access Steam, which makes me a sad Rai.

Other users have noticed similar problems and we have yet to find an easy solution. For the time being you'll have to manage as best you can.

Aaaand there's another one. XD Several of us have had this same problem, so you're not alone. None of us have found a way around it yet, either. The only reason I can reach CAA is because I'm a commuter, so I'm only unable to use CAA while in the computer labs at school. Such a weird situation, though. I just don't get it. XD

I'm in high school, but my school has it blocked by a filter. annoying thing. But that could also be part of why you can not access CAA from your school
Footprints in the sand by Carolyn Joyce Carty

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the lord.

Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene he noticed two sets of foot prints in the sand: one belonging to him the other to the lord.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the foot prints in the sand.

He noticed that name times along the path of his life there was only one set o footprints.

He also noticed that it was at the lowest and saddest times of his life.

This really bothered him and he questioned the lord about it:

"lord, you said once i decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But i have noticed during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of foot prints. I dont understand why when i needed you most you would leave me."

The lord replied:

"My son, my precious child, I love you and would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that i carried you."

Search out a proxy in Google, that might work.

How can there be no solution to this problem? Do university students no longer imbibe in coffee? Are there no internet cafes with free wireless in your town? Is this even possible?

When I'm travelling, I find that driving through a college town is usually a sure bet for turning up a place where I can get a cup of joe and catch up on my email.
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May He cause His face to shine upon you.
May He lift up His countenance and grant you peace.

Information discussed to this point can be found in the following thread, 'cause I don't feel like re-typing all of the answers:

Also, many students may not have cars, so they don't always have transportation to places outside of the campus.

It's an epidemic! XD

Goodness, I know six people here who are having trouble accessing the site. *begins to wonder if these campuses are anti-CAA*

I think the solution may simply be to do without for the time being.Either that or get well acquianted with your local mass transportation(i.e.the bus)and find a internet cafe near the bus line that is closest to your school.

I did receive an unverified notice that alluded to the possibility that a proxy might be able to fix the problem. I have not had the leisure to verify/validate this, though.

It does not surprise me that your school blocks proxies. It's highly likely that there are at least some they don't know about (you can't block everything).

Read your school's use policy first, though. Bypassing their filter to use a prohibited site may constitute a violation of some use clause, and could be cause for retribution.
