CAA: Christian Anime Alliance

So, over the weekend, I got a real nasty toothache. I also got a 103 degree fever. So bleh, not too happy, not sure what I caught.

But the toothache is my worst enemy. I'm gonna see a dentist hopefully sometime this week for it, but I need something to keep the pain away. I'd throw back some alcohol, but I'm also on fever reducers (Advil), which you can't drink with... besides, normally, I don't touch the stuff; alcohol is kinda bitter in high concentrations to me.

The painkiller that I use for fever reduction does nothing to this toothache. I normally wouldn't mind, but this pain actually keeps me from sleep at night. Anyone got any other ideas? Right now, I'm biting into my hand... the pain in my hand distracts from the toothache, but there's gotta be something better than that.

I've tried probably a hundred different home remedies for toothaches in the past. The only thing I found that really gave any relief was basically shoving an ice cube in and holding it there, or keeping ice water in my mouth -- and that only dulled the pain instead of making it go away, and it comes back rapidly once the ice cube/water is gone.

Go to the dentist ASAP -- it's really your only option. My understand is that tooth pain from a bad cavity is one of the worst pains a human can experience. My personal experience holds that to be true as well.

My dental health eventually led me to a 14-tooth-extraction surgery and an upper denture, so I've had my fair share of toothaches.

I gotta admit that in that sort of circumstance I'd probably slug back some brandy. While you're waiting for the dentist, I'd look into changing your pain-killer with something that's either more effective or compatible with other...treatments.

Eh, I just got a Wii, so I think I'll try to keep the alcohol away from it for at least a week or so...

But shortly after making the OP, I went to my dentist out of extreme pain. Apparently it's quite serious, and he gave me some perscription pain killers... Man, tonight's gonna be awesome... Not only do I get to waste aliens, but I get to waste aliens while stoned!

Dang, you're right. I really should have.

I was crying. It was not fun. Samus looked like she was drunk, and I was having the hardest time stumbling around and aiming. Thankfully, it seems like Samus is made out of titanium now, cause I sure took a very small amount of damage for all the hits I was taking.

I thought the brandy idea was pretty funny one,though I think I would be tempted to try it as well.

I'd use St. Remy or Metaxa personally. Barclay's is nigh on undrinkable, and some of the other brands can be too pricy for that sort of use (mmm...love that Hennesy's).

Well, I'm in the hospital, and am gonna be here for at least a couple more days... Turns out that my toothache was very serious... a bad case of cellulitus.

I hope you get better soon as well...though I would've liked to see Samus acting like she was drunk. I'll bet that was priceless.

The game is much more fun now, with Vicodin. I got a root canal yesterday and the Dentist said to keep my body primed with the stuff just in case the nerves above the tooth freak or something.

I tend to laugh a lot more now, like when Samus puked lol

Vicodin makes you a happy drunk. 'Nuff said. I'm glad I never had to take it. My system handles pain fairly well. If it's too hard to bear, Advil works just fine.
