Disabilities/Disorders?

Just because I know a lot of us have them, and I have a longing curiousity for such...

As for me, I have a mild case of right hemipeligic Cerebral Palsy
and I have to wear one of these things! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Ankle-foot-orthosis.png
That's to control my stability and balance, which especially helps, considering I'm a klutz. My CP affects my right arm and leg, and supposedly my eye as well, which is strange because it's the better of the two. Over the years I've been trying to master my disability, as in not allowing it to get in the way of driving and typing and stuff (I'm going to be driving with a spinner knob and a left footed gas pedal!)
But for an impatient person like me, it's tough especially, because I get frustrated extremely easily. All it seems to do is hold me back in areas I want to pursue, like sports, if I could do sports well, I'd play them, but I cannot...:(

And I have ADHD  Such a fun syndrome~

I have extremely bad eyesight. Without glasses I would be legally blind. Other than that, I'm pretty normal. 8D Oh yeah! One of my legs is a little shorter than the other, but it's not a big deal.

Well, my eyesight isn't terrible, just bad enough for me to require glasses. I'll probably switch to contacts soon.

I do have one, but I rather not mention it.
One of my family members has ADHD.

I have Crohn's Disease, which can have a widely varying severity of symptoms, but chiefly is an affliction of the intestines. I will forego describing specifics.

It has no cure, and it may cause me eventually to have some fairly severe surgical procedures. For now, it causes me to have a great deal of difficulty figuring out what is safe to eat, and puts me through the same severe fatigue as Fibromyalgia sufferers. I use up two to three weeks worth of vacation a year in sick leave thanks to this. The only treatment the doctor has for this part of it is to keep me on anti-Depression medicines.

I am also ADD and mildly Dyslexic.

I had Osteo Sarcoma when I was 12. I was in the 50% to have it in the knee, so yeah. Due to that and various factors (such as shoddy surgeons) I've not got a full femur prosthesis that runs from the hip ball down beyond the knee joint.

I set off metal detectors. That is my disabbility. Or my mutant power. I'd be the world's crappiest Xman.
Charles: "Titanimus! Distract the guards by setting off the metal detector!"
Me: *sigh* "Sure thing... I hope they don't get the burly woman to frisk me again."

As I've said many times here, I have Asperger's syndrome. I will die before calling it a disease, disability, or disorder.

It can be both fun and very un-fun. If anyone wants details (which I've given off more then four or five times XD) I'll explain.

prediabetes meaning I need to watch what I eat more.I also have to lower my cholestrol a bit more.

I've got Asperger's syndrome, and I suspect a little bit of OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder). And my eye sight is now bad enough that I'm required to wear glasses when I drive.

I've got no major disabilities but a lot of little, annoying ones:

• I'm very prone to depression.

• My left foot hasn't worked properly since I was four, most likely because of medical error. I wore a brace on my leg until I was thirteen.

• I'm extremely nearsighted.

• I probably fit somewhere on the Asperger's spectrum, and I'm likely the least sociable person you'll never meet. (My parents tell me that I barely talked at all until I was nearly four. They thought then that I was "slow." Later they thought I was "hyperactive." Now they think I was an example of "Einstein syndrome." Whatever.)

Ugh... for me, this is not a good topic Dx!

Asburgers Syndrome, OCD, Panic Disorder, and extremely prone to depression/depressive thoughts. I used to think that God created me as a test subject for disease. That's sort of laughable; but now that I'm getting tested for something else in like... two weeks? I may just wonder again :P.

(No; I don't actually think that. Truth is, my mother drank when she was pregnant. Screwed me up. DON'T DRINK, LADIES.)

Although it's not a disorder or disability, I am far-sighted (might need to make a new eye appointment in the future), I was born with scoliosis (curvature of the spine) in that my right shoulder slants downward, and I suffer from noise-induced hearing loss, particularly in the area of ringing in both ears.

Really? But...how are you on this forum then?

Or is it not the kind of blind I'm used to? Color blind maybe?

I was going to ask the same question.

I think she's blind to the inconsistencies of claiming blindness on a visual medium like the INternets.

I know plenty of blind people who not only use the internet, but have perfect grammar.

???

Okay, either this is a VERY cleaver metaphor, or the fact that as an aspie I have a hard time understanding sarcasm.

*is very confused*

Nope. Actually there are braille keyboards and a plethora of programs that'll actually read what's on screen aloud for you. Pretty good stuff.

It's cool, she memorized the layout of the website. She just has a pet parrot that repeats what people type. That's how she communicates.

It's perfectly logical for a blind person to use the internet. Screen readers are quite sufficient. It's the anime part I'm having a hard time reconciling. :P

They have manga books that are entirely in Braille.

Hmm I'm going to regret this probably but here goes.

I have BDD. It's like if you take anorexia, OCD, and panic disorder, and stir them up in a pot. That's what I have. For more information, www.bddcentral.com.

It's so easy to be open like this on a forum, ha ha ha.

Interesting thought though, back in the day a lot of disorders like ADD and ADHD would have simply been called 'acting up'.

Same goes for Bipolar Disorder.
