I doubt many here count themselves as opera fans, but most of us would have no exposure at all beyond Bugs Bunny dressed as a large valkyrie if not for Pavarotti. Even though I lack a certain appreciation for opera, I have never heard anyone who could sing like him.

I just saw this on CNN. I am an opera fan, and although I don't have a preference for tenors, I was blown away by his combination of talent, voice quality, technical mastery and precision, and emotional effusiveness. I haven't heard many people who have everything a truly great singer should have, but he was definitely one of them.

I'm not a huge opera fan, but I remember seeing advertisements for the "Three Tenors", which included Pavarroti. He did have one incredible voice, and for those who appreciated his talent, he will be missed.

Aww....

We just did our placements for choir (we are STAB) and our Director was really sad about that. She made it very clear that she expects a lot from the Tenors this season, as she was a really huge fan of his!

I read where they compared him to Enrico Caruso. To be compared with a tenor as great as Caruso is a high honor.
