CAA Age Demographics

At least one person other than me is curious about how CAA falls out in terms of age. Please vote in the poll so we can get some statistics.
There was a thread like this previously, but that was several years ago. I and many of the users have moved to different age brackets. It will be interesting to see how things have changed or if member turnover will keep a similar average age.
EDIT: If you are 20 years old, you should vote in the "20-25" category because you are actually 20 years and a number of days old... which means you are between 20 and 25 years old.

I'm curious, for those that are on the border ages (15,20,25, etc) which option are they to choose?

No one can actually be on the border for long. For example, someone who says they're a "fifteen year old" is actually 15 years and a number of days... more than 15.

I'm 17 and will be 18 on the 23rd of this month. So I fit in the 15-20 bracket.

Between 15-20 and 20-25 well, I'm 20 but I'm assuming that the -20 is more or like saying '19' rather it being 15-19, 20-25? In that case I'm in the 20-25 because I'm at the low point already...

I'm 22, so that leaves me in the 20-25 category. I was 19 when I first joined the CAA, so I have moved up.

Feelin' a little blue about being in the second-to-oldest choice, and only a few years away from the oldest!

Uh guys... the numbers mean what the stinkin' numbers say! If you're 20 but turning 21 a minute after midnight tonight, check da stinkin' 20-25 instead of the 15-20 and get this stupid census survey over with! *Grabs a random laborer and flings him into the chart splattering laborerish goo everywhere*
Ok. Carry on.

It's really not that simple. Taken literally, the numbers say 15-20 and 20-25. Therefore, if I were 20, legally I'd fit into both categories.
See? It's a matter of how you interpret it. No need to be rude.
(For those that may be confused now: If you are on one of the borders, vote into the older of the two categories.)

Wouldn't it be cool if all 6,000+ members actually voted?
At the time of this post, be 32 yrs. Thanks UC, for posting this poll!

I'm almost 22.
I believe I joined CAA at 18.
I'm not an active member but I occasionally read threads. I attempt to post, but to avoid controversial/provocative stuff, I usually cancel them at the last minute...
I don't know the community well enough to know what will be tolerated, so I just don't risk it.
For what it's worth, though, I still enjoy a lot of the topics here.

I wonder if there are any 50+s on the board? I know of a couple late 40s, but nothing over... I also wouldn't be surprised if there were a kid or 2 under 13 (isn't there a rule like kids shouldn't be able to sign on forums unless they have parental approval?)

I'm 23 now... and I joined at 19. So I jumped up one, probably will jump another eventually.

In the interest of good science, i.e., in pointing out things that could skew the data and yield false conclusions, keep in mind that only the user provided data about birthday given upon joining the forum is really accurate (assuming no falsified birthdays).
I believe your sample will be biased toward older forum members, because your polled audience is self-selected (they had to choose to visit this thread before they voted), and because older people care about polls and demographics. Some younger members on the other hand probably thought of visiting this thread and got distracted by six AIM windows, wikipedia, and some of the wonderful art in CAA's gallery [/shameless plug].

You really wouldn't believe how many people falsify their birth date. PARTICULARLY younger members who may be too young to join the forum without smudging the age a little. Either way, I guess the poll is biased against younger members who are more easily distra--

And slightly older ones who are just as distracted.
I'm in the 15-20 bracket, due to being 18 as of June 23rd this year. But even if my birthday was later this year, I'd still be in that bracket.
Kinda creepy knowing I couldn't have escaped it, no matter how hard I tried. *shivers*

Thankfully, somebody has checked off the 50+ group. I was living in fear I would turn out to be the oldest here!
Not that I would have been surprised...

I'm gonna go for the 15-20, since I'm almost 16.

Because of that little loophole (20-25, 25-30) I can put myself as an older group, woot! I'm 25-30!! Yay!
failure to launch...

Doesn't anyone here think mathematically? "15-20" means 15 <= age <= 20. You are only "20" for the exact second of your birthday, then you are 20.0001 and so on and so forth.
I'll add this to the first post (if I can) to avoid further confusion.
Tenshi no Ai wrote:I also wouldn't be surprised if there were a kid or 2 under 13 (isn't there a rule like kids shouldn't be able to sign on forums unless they have parental approval?)
If so they can post here and I'll change the poll. But it is rather difficult to confirm parent permission, so that is a tricky issue.

Any poll, however, will have a self-selected audience by nature. It is possible the nature of the poll skews the answers, but I'm not so sure this will be statistically significant. In any case we don't have a more reliable option, as user-provided data is suspect if present and would also include many inactive members.

I have a better solution - actually physically visit each member of the forum and ask them to their face how old they are.
Well, okay, it's only better if you neglect time, cost, lack of addresses, and general practicality.

Sigh... chronologically old, although I feel about the same as I did when I was 25...
