Is something wrong with the chat area?

Every time I join a chat, somebody is either leaving it or its very slow to post a reply in it.

They would likely leave, if the chat is pretty much dead or that they have to do something else. Slow replys would be that they are occupied with something else on the computer or outside such as eating lunch.
This kind of happenings are rather common in the chatroom. Usually around mid afternoon or around 9 pm is when the chat can get lively.

I see, but I meant is that every time I post something, it is kinda slow to submit it.

The chat always kinda lags a little. (Sometimes, for me, it lags a whole lot.)

The fact that someone is leaving when you come into the chat is merely bad luck and not your fault.
The other thing you are experiencing is an occurrence called LAG. You have LAG when your posts take longer that 3 seconds to post on the screen. It happens often in the chat and can cause many problems to the one experiencing it.
On the other hand, LAG is the purpose that there are so many wonderful chat quotes.
The best way to get rid of lag is to restart your web browser, or upgrade to a faster internet.

Another thing is that sometimes it still accounts for some users upon your arrival and then it says they've left the chat, when in truth, they left hours ago. I don't know why that happens. My best advice would be to use Firefox. It does have lag, but not nearly as much as Internet Explorer.

I don't think anything's wrong with it--We're just all anti-social! You'll learn that as you post more.

This is true; the LAST person to leave shows as "has left" as soon as you login. Using Firefox is good, too.
