No kidding. I can't but feel.... well they're sheep people... and Christians are sheep (in a good way hopefully...).

I don't know where they got the idea for Sheeple (I doubt that it's religeous in nature), but the little deviants are in reference to a contest for Scion modification and decoration that ran on deviantart. Scion has always been trying to push its brand towards artistic expression (want to be square was another ad of theirs that was rather disturbing in a way) and in that bent often holds contest to design their music, ads and jsut about everything else for their brand.
There is a popular secular association with sheep being blind, bland followers of the masses (a true to nature description honestly, if anyone here has worked with sheep, they can confirm this) and they're mostly playing on the terms sheepish and herd-mentality to create a profile of the type of people they didn't want in their cars, and by creating it as a negative stereotype cause people to take that reverse psychology and due to not wanting to be a sheeple, want the car.

I recognized the DeviantArt connection right away, but that commercial is rather bizarre and a little disturbing. I wish they would have come up with some other way to use "deviants."

wow! You too? I was asking my sister what the purpose of it was. It was weird and disturbing, and I didn't even know it was a car commercial until I saw the back of the car..
