The Mysterious Personality

What do you think makes a person mysterious? Is it their look, their attitude, or just some sort of "aura" or something that makes them that way? Or is it simply because you know nothing about them?

Also, how do you think a person goes about becoming mysterious? (I'm not asking for tips here, just speculation) Do you think they do it intentionally? And finally, do you find mysteriousness attractive or disturbing?

Personally I think that not everyone tries to be mysterious. But some people just happen to be, or people think they are, for whatever reason. What are your thoughts?

What do you think makes a person mysterious?

I think that the feeling of mysteriousness is something that is very much portrayed in mannerisms. The way a person moves, the way they speak, and the way that they present themselves play the largest role in being mysterious. (IMHO, anyways.)

Also, how do you think a person goes about becoming mysterious? (I'm not asking for tips here, just speculation) Do you think they do it intentionally? And finally, do you find mysteriousness attractive or disturbing?

While I know that some people do it intentionally (as can be seen in many movies) I think that for the most part it is a combination of personality traits that produces it.

I find mysteriousness intriguing. Occasionally attractive, but never disturbing. Generally it is an interesting trait to have.

Well generally if there name happens to be Nero Wolfe,Sherlock Holmes or
Hercule Poirot...oh you was being serious wan't you?

Ok to be serious,I think some people just have a way about them that
exudes mystery.I don't think it is anything intentional but rather that's the way they naturally are.

This may be a "you're no fun" type of answer, but hopefully it will interest someone.

To be honest, I don't think real people are mysterious. A character in a film can seem mysterious, and that usually comes along with a black or exotic outfit, sunglasses, and watching events or only making cryptic statements. But in real life I wouldn't say I've ever met anyone that is mysterious.

Otherwise, what makes someone mysterious? The fact that you know little about them but they are not ignored for some reason. You don't know anything about someone in a crowd scene and they aren't mysterious, but if they perform an odd action then they become so.

I'm going to partially agree with UC here; I can't say I know of many people who would qualify as "mysterious", but I think it's quite possible to have "an aura of mystery" about you. I would likely consider someone mysterious if they don't say much/aren't widely known about, yet stand out in some way, specifically a subtle, yet noticeable way.

Yes, I do find mysterious personalities fascinating.

I think it has something to do with how much people talk. At least, how much they reveal about themselves. But some people just find folks like that to be annoying, or stand-offish.

My mother tells me I'm too mysterious. I don't know if that's true, but I don't like people knowing everything about me. My mother is rather talkative, and in real life I'm not. I like few words to do a lot, and I don't like discussing every single thing I'm thinking, feeling, or doing. (Online, my personality is often a bit more chatty.)

But for mysteriousness to be attractive in fiction or in real life, I think a certain amount of confidence has to go along with it. I think.

I have to admit when I read 'Mysterious Personality' I automatically think of something like Aragon's introduction in LOTR.

Mysteriousness means possibilities. When you meet someone mysterious, it allows you to think "what if?"

Maybe this person is 'the one,' the somehow perfect guy (or girl) you've been waiting to meet all along. And not human like the rest of us.

For me, mysteriousness is when somebody is difficult to read but not in a defensive, negative way. So I think some people can still remain mysterious after you've known them for a while.

I do agree that the sort of mysteriousness cultivated in games and movies is something I haven't ever run into within real life.

When you think of it everyone is mysterious until you get to seriously know them.
