The Winter Thread

It's cold. Really, bitterly, unpleasantly cold. It's WINTER! So, as someone who's eager to have some new ways of keeping cosy and warm-fuzzy-inducing stories, I thought I'd throw this open to anyone who's got suggestions for keeping out the cold. Got recipes for hot food that warms from the inside out? Got suggestions for warming those extremities (like fingers, ears and toes) that go numb/purple/white in this weather? Have heating ideas that are more eco friendly than: Remove heater from storage, place in room, turn on? Got ideas for things we can do for other people to keep 'em hot and happy this winter - be it family, friends or strangers?
I thougth I'd put this up on most of the forums I frequent. So if there's inspiration from elsewhere, I might import it in here and vice versa.
Stay warm!
Piney.
PS: I realise most of you folks probably live in the northern hemisphere. Well, I guess that just means you'll have had more recent experience with keeping off the chills. Do share!

Wow, I always forget that it's winter there while it's summer here. XD Anyways, my suggestions are layered clothing, hot chocolate, hoodies, etc. XD Oh, and fires in the fireplace. 'Cause those are awesome.

Warm fuzzy animals are help too!
Hug your nearest kitty! It warms your body and your heart! ^^

You're lucky. What I wouldn't do for snow here. Although it has stayed around 73 degrees here in the summer for the moment.
Oh, how I wish Winter would come sooner here...
As for a way to keep yourself warm and inexpensively, this is the best solution:
The Kotatsu Table! It's a table that has a blanket on the outside so you can warm yourself with, plus it has an inbuilt heater that runs off of electricity. I don't own one myself, but because I live in the coldest room in my house during the winter, I'm seriously considering buying one this year.

That's not summer... that's like our May average temperature (end of autumn).
1. Ugg boots.
2. Hoodie, and pull it over your head.
3. Soup?
On the plus side, we actually have rain sometimes...
(I don't mind winter, actually.)
