The incident happened at the Wendy's on Miami Gardens Drive and Northwest 27th Avenue. According to police, a customer at the drive-through window began arguing with an employee after the employee told him that restaurant policy prohibited someone from getting more than three packets of a condiment.
The man insisted on 10, police said. The employee complied, but the customer wanted more.
When the manager, Renal Frage, came out to speak to the man, the customer shot him, a Miami-Dade police spokeswoman said. Frage was taken to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
"I did not know I got shot," Frage said. "When I went back to the office, I saw blood pumping our of my arm and I was shocked. I was checking myself out and couldn't believe I got shot over some chili sauce."
The customer fled in a brown four-door vehicle with a female passenger.
"I got shot over chili sauce," Frage said. "I was trying to figure while in the hospital why someone would shoot me over some chili sauce."
