Way to go!

When I saw this thread, my first two thoughts were:

Mobile Suit
Microsoft.

Neither really made sense.

YAY! It's your. . . graduation day. It's your graduation day. We're gonna party like it's your graduation day.

So, it doesn't really roll off the tongue, but you deserve the celebration! Congratulations, Mith.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

For a moment there I when I saw MS I was reminded of a member of
Abhnation Forum whose username also has the initials MS.Maybe because I was there earlier today.

Next think we know Mith will be taking over Microsoft! :thumb:

The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

Still waiting for someone to explain what one can do with a Masters in
Information Science aside from taking over Microsoft.

Drat I was looking at how Star Wars was going to be celebrating 30 years now and I just realized next year it will be 30 years since I graduated from

I'm somewhat confused... I thought diploma was below a degree, and a masters degree is above a degree.
Either way, congraturation! :D

Thanks, guys! For those of you who don't know, I've been out of college for about 8 years, already - workin' in the real world. I opted to get the MS because I felt it would be useful later on. I'll probably look into teaching college full time, if it's something I can get into. If not, maybe it's time I apply for a full time position at Google.

Thanks again for your prayers and well wishings!

Ok...but I am still curious what the heck "Information Science" is exactly and why someone would be interested in taking it as a major.

Using Wikipedia is good.

Look at the topics covered by information science, in particular. If after reading that list you are still confused about why it might interest someone, please find a time machine and familiarize yourself with the last few decades.

A diploma is merely the certificate that indicates you have attained a certain level of education, whereas a degree is the term for the actual position. Following high school is a bachelor's degree, which is below a master's degree, which is below a PhD. Does that clarify things?

However the person who started the thread should be the one to define what it is.
We shouldn't be forced to use WIKIPEDIA all the time for our answers.By not giving
a descriptive definition it shows a bit of laziness and sloth on the part of the thread
starter.

Information Science? I'm lost. Did you mean Information Systems?

And yes; I'm totally lazy. That's why I don't have a post-grad degree... No wait. Nevermind.
