2 Options. What to do?

Alright, here is my problem. There are two trips planned for the same day; one I want to go on, one I don't want to go on. Seems easy, right? Well, one is a 4-H trip to Jekell Island for our Senior Conference. The other is a SkilsUSA trip to Atlanta for a competition. I'm wanted for the SkillsUSA trip, since I am on the team; however, there are five members, and only four are needed, so I am not necessary. I don't want to go on it, but I would make my drafting teacher quite angry if I did not. I have gone the past two years, though, and never gotten much out of it.

The other trip is the Senior Conference. It is much more appealing; Friday night, we get to watch a movie, Saturday go to the beach, and on Sunday there is a dance followed by putt-putt. Of course, this looks very good on my portfolio for 4-H, and there are a lot of scholarship opportunities linked to 4-H, as well. If I don't go on the 4-H trip, I will be letting some people down, as well.

I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place, here. I don't know which one to go on; I don't want to go on the SkillsUSA trip, but I feel obliged to...like its my duty to my team and friends. I DO want to go on the 4-H trip, since it will be more fun, I've never been on it, and I only have 2 more chances to do so. I have a lot of people who want me to go on that, as well. I am so stressed out about this that I feel as if I'll gray by twenty. Anyone have any advice on what to do?

Well, if it were me, I'd choose the trip I wanted to go on. Also, considering the fact that the trip you don't want to join doesn't consider it necessary that you be there, I suggest you go on the trip that seems more appealing.

Yeah, I know what you mean. If I go on the SKillsUSA trip...I'll be miserable, to put it simply. My mind will be elsewhere. I won't feel all that bad if I don't go on the SkillsUSA trip, though.

I think you should go on the trip that you want to go on as well. xD; I mean, more people want you there, and you also want to be there too, right? o: It just seems like you might have a better experience there? 8D

Go on the one you want to and don't feel guilty about it. You've already been on the other trip twice before, so your drafting teacher can't say haven't done your time. Besides, it'll give your other teammates a chance to shine instead.

Go on the one you like.

You can't always live a life bound by duty and obligation. What's more, it's not even that necessary that you go.

If your drafting teacher gets angry with you, just tell him/her that you went twice before, and don't want to go this time, and it's not necessary, so don't be angry with me!!!! (well maybe say it politely).

I hope you have a great time!

This is part of life, you have to learn that you have to do stuff that you do not want to do and go places that you would rather not.If your teacher tells you he or she expects you to go with the rest of your team on the SkillsUSA trip than that pretty much obligates you to go.
Don't be too upset if by that you miss your senior trip as you can make up for it later on.
And even though you might not like it your team still is counting on you and there is probably a good reason they have five members.
So be a team player and don't think about what you would want but rather what is the best for your team.

Well, you said it isn't necessary that you go on the SkillsUSA trip, and that you've already been a couple of times, so I say go for the other option. You said yourself that you've already missed it twice, and there won't be a chance to make up for something like that.

Yeah, thanks. It appears that I'm going on the 4-H trip, afterall. The teacher thinks I am, now, anyway, lol. She isn't TOO upset...they've found a replacement for me, I think. I've spent this whole school year working for the school and spending time doing whatever needed doing, so yeah. In any case, it certainly appears I'm going to Jekell, so thank you for the advice.
