Favorite non-manga comic book character.

My favorite American comic book character, and probably my favorite fictional character of all time has got to be Spider-Man. He got me interested in comic books in the first place, which lead into my interest in anime and geekdom in general. And ever since I was five I have secretly wanted to be him.

Too bad Marvel comics has been messing up the character since the mid-90's.

I'm assuming by comic book you don't mean the Sunday funnies.

I'm a Batman fan, but moreso for the animated series by Warner than the comic books (though what I got my hands one was pretty awesome). And I enjoyed Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog series, but then he's really more famous for the video games, so that's no good.

We'll call it a drawn; I'll opt for Asterix.

Yeah, Spider-Man is my favorite too, based on my limited knowledge derived from the movies. I like how he's still himself when he fights as Spider-Man, and not some arrogant buff dude in tights. Not that those are all bad...just not as believable. :)

I'd have to go with Spiderman.

Other than that, though, does Dr. McNinja count? XD

I suggest picking up some "Marvel Essentials: The Amazing Spider-Man" books. They collect all the issues from the 60's and 70's, when AMerican comics were actually fun to read and not just depressing and serious.

Heh, reminds me of oldie Batman. I mena, compare those old TV shows with their "BAM!!" "WAMM!" and "ZOOM!"s, to the Batman of today. Well, ok it was more of a serious storyline and all, but c'mon!

I hear ya. I miss the days when comics were forvall ages and fun. If you read an old issue of Spider-Man it was colourful, entertaining, and they didn't have to dumb down the plot to make it accessible for everyone. And bring back word balloons on the cover!

Back in the day I used to read a lot of Superman comics. :thumb:
I still have a stack load of Superman and Supergirl comics from the '90s.
Supes is the MAN in more than one way. :thumb:

At least I contributed instead of lurking!).

Snoopy rules!

I've always been an X-Men fan...and a friend of mine introduced me to Deadpool a couple weeks ago.

So much love for Deadpool.

I like Deadpool too. How can you not love a wisecracking mercenary who's fully aware he lives in a comic book?

Hmmm... I have quite a few....

Spider-man, Batman, Knuckles from the Archie Sonic comics, almost all the X-Men (Wolverine and Colossus being the tops), Doc Ock, Venom, Joker.... So many!!! @.@

My first thought is Destruction from Sandman, for his general nonchalance, but after a bit of reflection I think I will choose Ozymandias from Watchmen. Mostly for the ending, though I do like how one magazine put it: he's so awesome that he put a hit out on himself.

But if webcomics count as a separate category, Dr. McNinja would get a reference. I also like Bob from Captain SNES.

Did you ever get into that offshoot series of his? Interesting times.

Ozymandias was a commie. Rorschach was the cool guy in that book.

They were both awesome. For different reasons, but still.

My vote goes towards (in no particular order):

Rorschach
Ozymandias
Deadpool
Toxin
Batman
Spiderman
Gambit

Uh... I could go on but I'm trying to keep the list as short as possible. ^^;;

Morpheus and Destruction from the Sandman comic books.
And, off course, I like Spider-man.

No comic book character ever dies. The hereafter has always been a temporary phenomenon within the pages of American comics, frickin' immortals.

The Superhero Health Plan? Sure, why not?

Hmmm, a hard question. Probably a toss-up between Calvin of Calvin and Hobbes (for general coolness/hilarity) and Peter Parker of Spider-Man (for hilarity, wit, and depth).

Huge Batman fan here...huge! Next would be X-Men, Spider-Man, V For Vendetta, The Watchmen, Swamp Thing, Avengers, and Green Lantern.

A good character, certainly. But unless you mean to be entirely sarcastic, I must point out that Rorschach is a sociopath and the lines of good and evil in this case are very arguable.
Etoh*the*Greato wrote:Yorick from Y the Last Man.

From that series, I'm most partial to Agent 355.

True, but at least he didn't kill billions of people in some crazy "the-ends-justify-the-means" act. And all the people he killed deserved it.
