Lets say you have the chance to go to New Orleans during Mardi Gras and wore your cosplay outfits during festivities would people think twice about what you look like?
I noticed that alot of people who attend wear some sort of costume so would people really notice someone dressed as a anime character?

You do it for a convention, you live in your mom's basement.
You do it for Mardi Gras, it's rich cultural heritage.
I think we're on to something.

I just hope Manfaye does not flash anyone. I'd have to carve out my eyes with Mardi Gras beads.

Mardi Gras is a rich celebration that encompasses, as others have said, literally everything. Some people go there dressed as "someone" or "something" and others just wear costumes they made up - everything from simple to lavish. I think the only way you'd stand out is if your costume looked particularly awesome or particularly goofy, and then it'd only be people saying, "Whoa, that costume's awesome!
" or "That costume could use some help.
" Otherwise, you'd be just another Mardi Gras participant.

From what I understand of Mardi Gras no-one would notice as everyone would be too busy celebrating.

Yes. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to take your shirt off to get beads.
