Have you ever wondered what would happen?

I was thinking just today about this, and I know it seems kinda morbid, but bear with me.
What would happen if you died. Who would tell your online friends? Assuming that you have no real life friends that chat here on CAA. If you, or I died the people on CAA would never know what happened.
Personally I would hate not knowing what happed, if one of my friends just up and stopped logging on to CAA. I would always assume the worst and never know for sure what happened.
Am I making any sense here?
Well my plain is to fix this. In the event that (God forbid) something should happen to me I want my CAA friends notified.
What do you think?
Would you do this?

We should all write in our wills that the doctor notifies Mithrandir once we die. So once we do die, he'll learn of our deaths and tell us...
Unless he dies before somebody else dies... o.o

It's fairly common to me to ponder death, and it has included my internet acquaintances at times. Fortunately, in real life I have friends and family who are aware of CAA and would inform people. There are certain individuals that have my general online data such that they would be able to notify those I've connected with online.
But presuming our hypothetical situation, I'm not sure what would happen. The mods would definitely notice if I abruptly didn't log on for a week, but they wouldn't have an effective way of obtaining information about me. However, Ann and Mave would eventually contact my parents if I went missing, and they'd inform people.

Well let me tell ya, there's this one Forum I tend to frequent, if I went over a week without coming on, they'd have already assumed I was dead and buried by that point. As for, say, here, Animus Seed knows me, so I guess he'd spread the word.

I don't know how you people would know. My parents never look at this site. And I'm an only kid.

If I died, Rachel would probably let you know.

Ah, this is a subject I have indeed considered in some detail.
I've been told there was once a group of guys on a usenet group or something who created an "e-mail death notice" program. Basically, if you didn't give it a command not to within a certain preset period of time, it would e-mail everybody in your address book with a notice that you were dead.
After a few false positives from people forgetting the "dead-man's switch", however, the idea was abandoned.

We could always opt for the Death Note method.
If L doesn't click in to his computer within a certain period of time, a letter of his death is automatically dispatched to his chosen successor.
Nobody would know.
I would simply dissapear. People would notice my abscence after awhile, but nobody would know I was really dead and nobody would give much more thought to it.

My mom is a member of the forum.
If I died, I'm sure she'd tell you all eventually. Eventually. Because she'd probably be too sad to remember stuff like that for a little while, anyway. (Think about it; if you actually died, your family probably wouldn't put notifying CAA on the top of the list, even if they knew about it.)
Actually, I doubt anyone would notice my absence for awhile anyway.

In your hypothetical situation, my brother or my parents might eventually think to notify CAA. I would imagine my brother would be the one who would think of it. In actuality, though, I have 5 real life friends on CAA, so one of them would probably post about it.

Ah, much the same as the program I heard the (possibly apocryphal) story about.

What if we all died....
AT THE SAME TIME?

Preferably, we'd all notify each other after reaching our destination.

I meant me and my CAA friends who are also my IRL friends.

Animom, but she hasn't been on in awhile.
Out of curiousity, though, if I suddenly disappeared, for instance, would you really want to know I was dead? Wouldn't it be better to just assume I'd left, and ended up never coming back?

If I could have soem time just before I died, I've planned out quite a few times how to quickly tell somebody how to let everyone know. There's only a few sites where I think I'd really be missed, and only a few specific members that would have to be told.
But if I didn't have that brief periodof time where I knew I was going to die, I'm not sure what I'd do. Chances are nobody would know what happened.
I thought one of my online friends died once. After a few months of trading daily PMs, which suddenly quit for a few weeks, I immediately assumed the worst, but then I thought to check the last login date which, thankfully, relieved my fears.

Not necessarily. Depending on how certain people looked at it, you could have just abandoned one of your online friends because you were tired of them or something, and didn't want to bother telling them you weren't going to ever respond to any messages they tried to send you. Then you'd come off as just a big jerk, instead of a corpse.

The only thing I can think of is that sao_sakura can have my DVD collection if she wants it when I die.I can't think of anyone else right now to give it to.
p.s.that includes my Cardcaptor Sakura video.

Well, maybe that would be better than having people be unnecessarily sad.

First, if you're our friend (which you are) we wouldn't be unnecessarily sad.
Second, anger is more dangerous than sadness. If we knew you were dead, we would be sad for a while, then go "Well, at least she's with the Lord now, so she's happy, and that's good."
But if we figure you left and you're a jerk, we might carry that grudge against you the rest of our lives, which is far more damaging to us mentally and spiritually.

Ok recap;
1) I'm going to be a dad within the next month or 2, therefore, I am too busy to die!
2) My wife is on this forum so all of you will never hear the end of it if I did.
3) I know Pascal personally, so you can ask him.
4) If I were to die, you'd probably see it on Mythbusters.
5) Or you would feel the concusion from the explosion regardless of what country you live in. (yea, when I do DIY projects... It's not pretty! LOL)

If somthing were to happen to me, Gypsy and Lightbringer would both know pretty fast. I am sure they would pass along the message. As well as the location to my ashes firework show.
