Airport angst

Warning: Rant ahead

I work at the airport, and today was an awful day. Last night and this moring everything was cancelled, so today there mobs of people trint to get on flights since theirs had been cancelled. If a snow/ice storm is coming, flights will be cancelled or delayed. don't expect everything to just magically go on schedule. If a ton of flights were cancelled yesterday, expect two hour lines at the airport. not only will there be more passengers, but many of them will be going through a lengthy process of getting re-booked. I would suggest you just skip traveling unless you have to in a situation like that. The airport will be a zoo. Save yourself the frustration and anxiety. And I hope you guys already know this, but the employees will be really frustrated too, and they are doing the best they can. Throngs of people asking you why they can't get their way is not pleasant. So please, if you're traveling during or after a snow/ice storm, think about the big picture. The same applies to thunderstorms, but not as severely. [/rant]

Sorry about the rant, but today was the worst day I've had at my job, even worse than around Thanksgiving.

I hate to be on the opposite side of the spectrum, but the ice storm gave me some of the BEST days at work ever.

Having only 1 car appear an hour made things so much fun XD We just goofed off the whole time.

I had a 2 houre fight turn into an 8 hour flight because of weather resently. Neadless to say the 6 hour layover turned into a 15 minute layover too. On the bight side, I was the one of two people on that plane that actuly MADE there conecting flight.

Aw, I'm sorry, Mebo! I hope things will be better for you tomorrow. Some people are insane. When I was going on a missions trip summer before last, I was held over for over nine hours at an airport, missed my connecting flight, and had to eat over-priced and over-cooked food at a hotel that night, but I didn't blame the airport employees. Because that's just ridiculous. I mean, what are they supposed to do about the weather being rotten? Gee whiz. -_-

I feel your pain, meboeck. I've worked in the tourist industry the last two summers, and I fully believe that when people go on vacation, many have a more stressful time than normal. I'll just say that working a hotel front desk and reservations at one of the largest resorts near Mt Rushmore is not a fun thing around the 4th of July. *shudder*

Hope you have a better day at work today.

I have yet to fly in my life and the only time I have been to an airport was to drop people off...

My only actual similar experience is at work, where people get mad and frustrated at you for thigns you didn't do :/ It's definately... not fun stuff :/
