Homeschoolers?

I was just wondering how many of the member populace homeschools, or did when they were in school; I seem to run into them everywere here.

I do myself.

<mod note: Having seen several threads like this one one unfold, I'd like to just ask that this thread not become a "Homeschooling vs. Other forms of education" or "Let's use this thread to rant about our bad experiences or flaunt the glories of our 'superior' home schooled experience.'" Thanks!>

*Raises hand* I've homeschooled since..... I think 5 years. Since I was 9.

Nope, I never have. I've been at the same school for my entire life though, if that counts. XD I go to a very small private school that has a little over 250 students...from 5K to 12th grade. XD I wouldn't trade it for the world, though--I've loved going there over the years. XD

I was homeschooled from kindergarten til 2nd grade; then I went to a private school for a few years, and then to a public junior and senior high.

I'm a fan of it, but to a limited extent.

My mom wanted to homeschool me for a while, but she had to work. I wish I had been able to homeschool because in elementary school I always worked at a much faster pace than the other students. It would have been nice to just go at my own pace.

Me too. I have tons of friends and know quite a few people that have been homeschooled in the past, although I never have.

I was "home schooled" (independent study would be a better description, in my case) all through High School. I really wish I hadn't been, though. I had no idea how to handle a classroom situation when I started college.

Yup I've been homeschooled since 2nd grade. I went to a Christian school up til then and my mom only saw me in the morning (waking up) and coming home (wiped out). So she pulled me out. I enjoy it greatly! XD
I do wonder what would've happened if I had gone to school... And if I'll get through college like ICE-rocks mentioned. hehe But I know it's worth it for the great Christian friends I've got. ^_^

I've been homeschooled/independent study my whole life.

I'm a public school kid through and through. I will, however, add to my credit by saying that my school county has one of the best education systems in the United States.

I've been homeschooled all my life, but I'm going to spend my senior year in a public school. Homeschooling's great, education-wise, but social-wise.... not so great unless you're involved in groups or something.

WE ARE EVERYWHERE. WE WILL RULE THE WORLD.

Seriously, though, I've been homeschooled since kindergarten, and I've loved it. It's true that sometimes you have to make an effort to have friends and do things outside of your own family, but I wouldn't trade homeschooling for anything.

Save that I was homeschooled in Middle School and not elementary, my schooling from Kindergarten through High School was similar, and I have a similar view of homeschooling:I like it, but to a limited extent. It's good if properly done, and something I may consider if I have children someday, but I personally wouldn't want my children to be homeschooled for all of their pre-college careers.

I've been homeschooled all my life. I think it has its advantages, but I'm no rabid fan of the system. It has its place, just like pistols, rifles, shotguns, and rocket launchers all have their places. They all do the same thing [they're all weapons], but they each are suited for certain circumstances. Same goes for styles of education.

I've been homeschooled since 6th grade, and sorry to say, I hate it with great passion.

Closest I got was independant study one semester. I couldn't imagine not having the experiences I had in public school and still being able to handle some of the things I encountered in college.

I was homeschooled the whole way through and I'm glad I was. I know that I wouldn't have made it nearly as far or know as much as I do if I wasn't. My personality and public school would have been like two jets going mach 10 on a collision course.

Sorry, the "homeschoolers ruling the world" is a running joke with me and my friends. Along with several about fire alarms...

Anyways, I'm sorry if my post offended anyone.

1 year of homeschooling, about 4 scattered years of private, and the rest public. The private schools had their strengths, but I would maintain that I got the best education from my public high school. Between AP classes and opportunities to take college classes, there were plenty of great options for me that weren't available at private high schools.

I don't think it counts as homeschooling, but I did school by correspondence for several years. That's school through the mail, for those unfamiliar with that.

Thank you for posting that. My intention was only to see how many homeschoolers there are on this forum.

On another note, that was my first mod edited post. Image
