With Jesus's birthday quickly approaching, I'm curious about how your family celebrates. So post your traditions on this thread!

Every Christmas morning, we go and wake my parents up and then they make their coffee and my sister(s) and I make our cappucino or tea. Then we tear into our presents. Then we usually wait for my eldest sister, but she's staying Christmas Eve night, so she'll be there in the morning, yay! So this year, we're just waiting for some friends to come over then we just eat he rest of the day and play with our new toys. It's a simple tradition, but that's what makes it special. ^_^

My family's traditions mainly consist of my father putting on Handel's "Messiah" and eating Apfel Strudel on Christmas morning. Otherwise it changes from year to year.

Our Chrsitmas tradition are: going to Christmas Eve Services at Church, eat our Christmas Dinner (Spiral Baked Ham, Candied Yams, Green Beens, Special CornBread stuffing and of course Pumpkin pie) the night before. Then we get up and have breakfest then we open our gifts. Since we have my Grandma living here. We are going over to her place for Christmas Dinner (Lunchtime) on CHristmas Day and then we'll open gifts there too.

I wait until my parents wake up (or they get up before me, either way). We open some presents at home, and then if we're visiting any of our nearby relatives houses we go there afterwards.

We usually roast the Abbot of Crossrugal on a grill and then roast marshamallows on top of him until he is well done...Ok...just joking we really don't do that.
*Points for anyone who can tell what Sir Walter Scott book the reference is to*
Ok,now to be serious,we really don't have traditions in my family. At least not
any I can recall off hand.

We usually have a big ol' meal on Christmas Eve as a sort of Jesus's Birthday Party. Then there's the watching of The Snowman (the best Christmas film EVAR!) We also make at least one or two family trips through the nearby neighborhoods to check out all the Christmas lights, though that's usually a few days before.

As for Christmas itself, well that's pretty much the standard deal: mass present openings in the morning, then we drive over to our relatives' house and open a second batch. Good fun!

Well, don't know if we have any... they're more like habits than hallowed traditions. We go to church on Christmas Eve (conveniently located on Sunday this year), I sew Paytah's gift shut after double boxing and weighting it, we look at pretty lights and hum carols. On the morning of, we let Mum and Dad sleep in, and they are kind enough to restrain this to around ten in the morning. We read from the Bible, open the gifts, and eat breakfast.
Of course, this year will be a tad different... all of that will somehow fit into the Eve along with the program. Wheee...

ooh fun thread!!

On Christmas eve my sisters and I open one present...usually new pajamas or something....then we go to other towns and look at Christmas lights.

On Christmas Morning my sisters and I all wake each other up and like 5:30 and go look at our stockings... and on Christmas Eve my parents leave the christmas tree on...and we look at the NEW presents that my mom doesn't wrap (usually a dvds, or a big toys) after about 30 minutes we go wake up our parents...after I make my dad's coffee... then by around 6:30 we start opening presents while listening to Christmas music.

After we open presents we eat Orange Cinnamon Rolls.. yuumy...

Then we eat Christmas Dinner.

On Christmas night my family stops at a Speedway, loads up on junk food, and drives downtown to see this really big n' awesome nativity display.

A bit odd, I suppose, to be buying food in a gas station on christmas, but I enjoy it.

For our family, it usually consists of being involved in our church's Christmas production, with several performances a few days before Christmas, then the last two on Christmas Eve afternoon and evening (usually involved with videoing, choir, or band). Then we go home and open presents on Christmas Eve (I'm told that's a German tradition). Then some of us go to the midnight service with candlelight and awesome music. Then we go to the Christmas Day morning service. (Since Sunday = Christmas Eve, that makes 5 church services in 25 hours! XD)
Then we have a Christmas lunch usually consisting of mangoes, cherries, and to a lesser extent prawns, among other things. Sometimes at home, sometimes a over at a relative or friend's place.

We have a pastry that we like to call "Christmas tree bread," which is fittingly in the shape of a Christmas tree. It has cinnamon, frosting and some sort of candy on top. We usually eat it Christmas morning. Mmm....

We broke alot of our Christmas traditions this year (like making a Christmas tree out of cinnamon rolls). This year we had steak for Christmas dinner instead of ham... I'm the instigator XD

However, we always to Advent on Sundays in December (the whole lighting candles deal). On Christmas Eve we drive around and look at Christmas lights. We also make fresh squeezed orange juice Christmas morning, even though none of us really like it.. XD
