In case you haven't heard, Time Magazine copped out on their Person of the Year this year and named practically everyone as the POTY this year. So, let's let them have it. Post your acceptance speech here!

Acceptance speech? Er...okay...I'll give it a shot.
"I'd like to thank TIME Magazine for making me feel special. It's not everyday that I get singled out along with the rest of the populace. True, I've been placed alongside not only the most upstanding citizens, but also with those of ill repute; nevertheless, what an honor! I'd also like to thank Sonic Drive-In, without which the world would be a dimmer place. And also, this ball of lint that's been in my pocket for two days. What would I do without you?"
*joyous sobbing*
Does that work?

I would like to take this oppurtunity to thank everyone who made it possible, especially former Vice President Gore for having had the foresight and intelligence for inventing the Internet in the first place.

This is completely expected and wonderously appropriate. Though I would like to take this chance to query why you kidnapped me from New Zealand and flew me to the States without notice just to make an acceptance speech.
*Looks offstage at an evil-looking Times Henchman*
*Laughs nervously*

Thank you for this wonderful prestigious award. When my power is sufficient, I promise the deaths of most of you will be quick and painless.

Okay, first and foremost, I want to thank God for letting me do...whatever the heck it is I did to get this honor.
Second, I want to thank my car for driving me to wherever I had to go to do whatever it is I did...
Third, I want to thank all the little people for supporting me during the hard times...whenever those were.
Thank you and good night!

There lived a King, as I've been told,
In the wonder-working days of old,
When hearts were twice as good as gold,
And twenty times as mellow.
Good-temper triumphed in his face,
And in his heart he found a place
For all the erring human race
And every wretched fellow.
When he had Rhenish wine to drink
It made him very sad to think
That some, at junket or at jink,
Must be content with toddy.
With toddy, must be content with toddy.
He wished all men as rich as he
(And he was rich as rich could be),
So to the top of every tree
Promoted everybody.
Now, that's the kind of King for me.
He wished all men as rich as he,
So to the top of every tree
Promoted everybody!
Lord Chancellors were cheap as sprats,
And Bishops in their shovel hats
Were plentiful as tabby cats--
In point of fact, too many.
Ambassadors cropped up like hay,
Prime Ministers and such as they
Grew like asparagus in May,
And Dukes were three a penny.
On every side Field-Marshals gleamed,
Small beer were Lords-Lieutenant deemed,
With Admirals the ocean teemed
All round his wide dominions.
With Admirals all round his wide dominions.
And Party Leaders you might meet
In twos and threes in every street
Maintaining, with no little heat,
Their various opinions.
Now that's a sight you couldn't beat--
Two Party Leaders in each street
Maintaining, with no little heat,
Their various opinions.
That King, although no one denies
His heart was of abnormal size,
Yet he'd have acted otherwise
If he had been acuter.
The end is easily foretold,
When every blessed thing you hold
Is made of silver, or of gold,
You long for simple pewter.
When you have nothing else to wear
But cloth of gold and satins rare,
For cloth of gold you cease to care--
Up goes the price of shoddy.
Of shoddy, up goes the price of shoddy.
In short, whoever you may be,
To this conclusion you'll agree,
When every one is somebodee,
Then no one's anybody!
Now that's as plain as plain can be,
To this conclusion we agree--
When every one is somebodee,
Then no one's anybody!
My thanks to Gilbert and Sullivan and their operetta "The Gondoliers" for summing up my opinion...

I'd like to thank the academy, for if I hadn't gone there, I would have never graduated from there.
I'd like to thank my bedroom, for allowing me to post in this thread by being a threat to my real life.
I'd like to thank my fruit juice for being the only healthy thing I have to look forward to in my diet.
I'd like to thank the makers of the movie "What about Bob" for reasons having nothing to do with my screen name.
I'd like to thank Lexmark for building a K-rappy printer that doesn't work anymore, and makes everything too blue...
I would love to thank Abraham Lincoln, but he wasn't available on the phone...
I would like to thank the goof off thread for no doubt accepting this thread as soon as mods get here.

I'd like to thank the lazy bums at Time Magazine for making me look as diligent as Rock Lee in comparison.

I would also like to thank all those nice judges who didn't mind the fact that they each got ten one hundred dollar bills in new currency in their mail this past week.
I would also like to thank all the leperchuans, fairies, gnomes and other wee folk
who granted my wish for endless supply of money to 'donate' to the nice judges.

Ah, I don't know. Maybe those with really, really, really, REALLY low self esteem would benefit from being named Person of the Year.
