Wow...I hope this is for real. Maybe this will convince some of the terrorists to stop killing our troops. :(

It doesn't mean anything is over yet though. Iraq still has an extrememly long way to go.

Great! Now let's get Bin-Laden.

Yeah! I hope this is for real too. It most likely will take a while for things to settle down in Iraq-- many years. Iran and Syria haven't helped things any, Iran more so.

Have you seen the picture of him they have on the http://www.yahoo.com homepage? It's almost as bad as the Nick Nolte DUI photo ( ;) ;) Conan O'Brien fans)!

They have or at least are doing testing. And there won't be any confirmation until sometime this week, I think.

The news article said they did DNA testing and proved him to be for real. One down, one to go.

While I don't say we never should have interfered (I think that protecting people who are being hurt is not only right it's necissary... The mistake was saying it was about terrorism instead of just saying we're gonna get Sadaam out of power) I do say that I pray that in his last days, he gets the Gospel and turns his life to Jesus.

Now, now. NO discussion of the "we should have" or "we shoudn't have" here. This is not what we are about. I'm with BOB on the "Pray for your enemies" concept, though.

On the other note, I'd be REALLY surprised to learn that they had finished the DNA testing allready. They would have to have some SERIOUS processing power at their disposal for that one.

This won't exactly help with the situation of Iraqi resistence killing our troops. Thier statement on this was that "We were never fighting for Saddam, we fight for the Iraqi people becuase our nation is occupied."
I really hope they put him on trial for the horrible things he did.

Have you heard that he was writing a romance novel while he was in that "spider hole"?

And yes just as Bush said in his address today that the killing will not end with this capture. The frequency of attacks on the other hand is a different thing.

not to mention the fact that they dont have his dna on record

Not necessarily; we don't know that. They may have picked it up from the presidential palaces, as just some hair strands will do. They also have the DNA of his sons', of course, and using something called RFLP (restriction fragment length polymorphism) analysis, they can very rapidly figure out if the DNA of their captured man has any relation to that of his known offspring.

As for the time needed to complete the test, the New York lab that did the confirmation stated that if they really, really need to, they can pull everyone off all the other tasks and chug a completed verification out in about 12 hours. CPU time isn't the limiting factor, just plain old chemistry time (a lot of this is still done with polyacrylate gels, which take some time to run, even in parallel).

Nope, that's not true... They had it from before the war started.
