So yeah, for all of those who don't know, I'm going to Japan in January. Just wanted to let all of you I haven't told know about it. I'll be attending Kansai Gaidai University in Hirakata City. No, I don't speak Japanese, my courses will be in English. I should be coming back to the states around the very end of May.

Here's a schedule I made when I was bored:
Sunday, January 21st: hang out in Wichita
Monday, January 22nd: 7:50 AM - Depart Wichita for Chicago, 9:34 AM - Arrive at Ohare, 12:19 PM - Depart Chicago for Osaka
Tuesday, January 23rd: 5:20 PM - Arrive at Osaka Kansai, ?:?? PM - Take the pick-up service from the airport to Kansai Gaidai

I'll keep you all updated!
(okay, NOW I'm not a year)

If you are staying with a host family, be sure to bring lots of gifts. ^_^

I'm going through the International Student Exchange Program (ISEP) and I'll just be staying in the dorms. I'm not sure how well I would ever do trying to find my way around a city, let alone in Japan, I mean, I'm from Kansas, the rural side at that. (Which reminds me, I started to read ucp's post as weird variant of Kansai before I finally realized it said Kansas...I hope I don't do that too often...) Anywho, I have to sleep on a futon while I'm there! That should be interesting. As for classes, so far I only know that I'm going to taken a Spoken Japanese class and Japanese Reading & Writing. As for others, well, there are about 50 different classes I can take. I don’t know which ones I want to do. I could do anything from entrepreneurship or international business to Japanese cinema, they even offer sumi-e(art brush style)! So I’m sure I’ll find something I like.

We have two other people with connections to Kansai Gaidai already? Well why don’t you all come too! We could, like, make KGU the meeting ground of all CAA members going to Japan! Now if only we can convince W4C to come...

XDD Oh, you've already convinced me! It's just a matter of finding a means of obtaining a plane ticket... (unlikely)

Soo close!!! Kimichan!!!

Are you excited, nervous? Both?!

Won't you miss the flatlands of Kansas?! Or the annoying winds? How about the stanky cow smell??

Err... I thought not! XD

It seems to me that the jet lag is going to be more of a problem than anything else.
I hope you have enough time in your schedule the first week to be able to relax and just get used to the time zone change.Being a day ahead is probably going to make your system out of whack for awhile until you adjust to it.
I hope you meet a lot of interesting new Japanese friends while you're there.

Sweet deal dude. I was in Japan 2 years ago from July 10 to August 15. I did my college internship there. I worked in a church with a pastor in Hamamatsu. It is in the Shizuoka prefecture. I also went to Tokyo for 2 days. Go to Tokyo is you can. Shibuya in Tokyo is an awesome place to go shopping and just see people. If you go to Tokyo and want some places or advice or if you need any advice, I will be willing to share with you what I know.

I am excited for you. I think you might be there for the Sakura festival in the spring. They say it is sooo beautiful. You are blessed.

Ooh! I can't wait until I can finally go to Japan myself one day (hopefully).

I hope you have safe travels and a really good trip. And definitely bring back lots of stories and pictures.

Awesome Doe! What an oppurtunity! I hope you have a blessed time in Japan and a safe flight over there. You'll probably experience culture-shock but it's good over there, just different (the airports are extremely formal). If you like wide open spaces though, look elsewhere. (lol) You can imagine the shock it was for us Aussies (when we went to the Tokyo suburbs for a mission trip). Anyway, I wish you the best. God Bless mate!
