I noticed just earlier this morning (or was it yesterday?) that we were at exactly 5,000. Of course, one of those members turned out to be a spammer :/
Still, can't believe a place can grow to be soooo big in just 3 short years^^ And still growing, of course...

Wow -- already 5000 members. ^_^ I joined up about three(?) months after it started up, having learned about it from Ashley's "spam" posts at Anime Angels.

You realise, of course, that this means we can't clear out the membership rolls for a while? It wouldn't do to celebrate the 5000th member more than once.
For the curious, the number of accounts created as of this post is 7377.

*Wonders how many of these 5000 members are trolls/spammers that just haven't been cleared out yet?*
Whatever the number CAA is a good place to be.

August 2001. Yes, that is WAY before the forums existed, but it counts officially. XD

Which time?
It's a nice mark and all, but I would rather count those who actively (and at least semi-productively) participate in our little community. Then again, I wonder how it would affect national population if the Census Bureau had that kind of policy.

Well on the Dualfans forum I am a member of they have the member number
over when a member joined(I'm #4 there if I remember rightly,but that's the new
forum they set up),so if we had something like that. But that would probably be way too much work for the mods and admin to do.They would have to pull all
nighters to get everyone in order.

Well, I post in the music thread, mainly, not quite as in to anime as I used to be.

Open your public profile.
(You can do this by clicking your name on any post and choosing "View Public Profile or by clicking "the list" at the top of the screen and finding yourself.)
The URL will end with u=# where # is your user number. I'm guessing that number does not change even if users with a lower number than you are deleted.
I'm 2170

For those of you wondering how many consistently contributing members we have, I recommend doing an advanced search on the members list. To give a basic statistic I searched for members with over 100 posts who posted sometime in the last month and got just over 250. That seems usual for this type of online forum. Unfortunately, it neglects lurking members who still contribute significantly to the forum, but all statistics have flaws.
Kura Ookami wrote:*Wonders how many of these 5000 members are trolls/spammers that just haven't been cleared out yet?*
Not too many, I would think. If I recall we last cleaned some time around the 4000 mark, and I think the members we trollban actually lower the number.
termyt wrote:The URL will end with u=# where # is your user number. I'm guessing that number does not change even if users with a lower number than you are deleted.
That's correct. This number remains constant pretty much regardless, so there are gaps in the registry.

Actually, that's your absolute account place, so it should be factored against the 7000+ number. Does around 2000 members since you joined sound a bit more reasonable?

October 2004. Member #36026....
Wow. It's been just over 2 years since I joined, then. ^_^ I've had some good times on here since then, and more than a few extended absences, but I always get drawn back sooner or (usually), later.
It's pretty amazing that there are over 5000 members, with a core group of around 250 - that does seem like a large amount for an online forum to me.

It's a good number, I'd say^^ An active place which I love, but not SO active that if you missed out one day, you'd miss ALOT, like, 10+ pages of new postings, and so forth :/ That would be a little bit too much^^
