seriously how many people would go to church if their parents didnt make them
I have been incolledge for the past 3 years and havnt missed a sunday allthough I must admit sometimes its hard to get out of bed specially after you stay up watching Eureka 7 but I keep going so would you make it or do you make it.
Be honest I may use this for a semon next time I have to take care of church back home. Its alot easyer if I have help Like info and stuff.

My parents don't make me go to church...

I go because it's good for me and I enjoy it.

Presently, I so would go to church if I wasn't working every Sunday :/ Well, that's why I have Bible study every week now^^ The very first time (and only time) that I didn't wanna go to church, was when I first started going, and that was when my mom made me when I was younger... THEN after going for over a year or so, was when I became a Christian... so it was only during my pre-Christian days did I try to get out of it :/

I am not made to go to church m(at night) but still i do. i love church you get to meet alot of great people there like say Jesus.

I go 'cause I want to go. And also, I can't stand missing church services.

My parents have never made me attend chuch, and I've sought out my own church here at college on my own accord, and put forth an effort to attend services and small group regularly.

Which also makes one wonder, why do we go to church in the first place?

A. Is it to learn more about God?
B. To see what We can get out it?
C. To fellowship with our fellow believers
D. To Give God the Glory, and the praise?
E. All of the above?

I choose E. but mostly D. ^^; We should go to Church because we want to praise God with all of who we are, but also we can do this in regular life too.

To be honest sometimes I am really sleepy, and I don't FEEL like going.. BUT if I based my faith on FEELINGS I wouldn't have much of a Faith...^^; So I go because I don't want to let God down.

Plus I feel REALLY guiltly when I do miss..

I used to be made to go to church 'cause of my parents, but now I go to church because I want to. xD;

I go to church without my parents forcing me because I want to be closer to God. Sometimes I over sleep or just feel like not going. I guess the reason why I don't go to church sometimes is because I'm up all night from playing games and watching tv before I have to go back to school.

It hasn't ever really been about my Parents making me go to church, actually I generally tend to go by myself. But church is a sanctuary for me in particular, a place where I can escape the evils of physics homework and sort out my actual thoughts. Also, I'd much rather prefer contemplating God over contemplating another block rolling down another wedge.

Still there is more to it than that, quite often it is a manner for me to chat with God. Call it what you will, I've had occasion for myself when my own personal life troubles have become the primary topic of the sermon in discussion. Sometimes this really bugs me, 'cause I don't want to think about the topic AT ALL... Especially when they hit close to home on something that I'd rather it not!

My biggest prob is that our church is growing at a high rate of speed, and especially once I left the youth group I noticed a rapid decline in these personalized sermons. It makes logical sense too, God has to deal with more people through one service and as a result I get less personal attention. Oh well , who knows how often things will happen when they double the size of our auditorium, I won't statistically hear from him for years at a time!

Anyways, that's my take on it... and a tangent

I was raised as a Christian and as such had to go to church every Sunday, even on Holidays. I didn't mind though.
Now I go to church every week because I want to. To worship God, be encouraged and supported by His Word (and hopefully His people) and be challenged and enjoy myself. It helps that its an evening service.

Well I attend Church almost most of the time in my life.

When I was fifteen, I considered going out instead of going to church on Sundays. Then I became a Christian, and continued going to church.

I don't always want to go, some days I just want to sleep in or go out or do something else. But I go because I know it would be good for me, even though I may not "feel" that it is.

I enjoy church a lot more now that my dad does half of the preaching. I'd still go if he didn't, though.

Hmm good question. personally, I try to go to differant churches (though I can't this semester due to work/school) and learn from each one. I think that the only time a person NEEDS to go to church is on a holiday, when there is something that society can be thankful for, or just when one feels like it. I try to worship God mostly at home with my family. instead of going along with what we are told at a church, we read literature and try to come up with what WE belive rather than have someone tell us. now, thats not to say that we don't spend time listening to other peoples insight on religion and God. but we try to spend more time discussing what we each belive to be ABSOLUTELY true and how we can apply those beliefs to life. I suppose that we are as non-denomonational as ya get.

I would go to church regardless of what anybody said or did.

Well, my parents were always of the "you're definitely going to church, no questions asked" party, and the only times we ever skipped church when I was young was if I was diagnosably ill (once I woke up feeling a little queasy and I almost went to church, only later to be desperately glad I was puking from the comfort of my couch rather than a church pew.) But, I'm glad my parents did that, because even though as a child I might not have appreciated being there all the time, I'm so thankful for all the things I learned when I was that age. Now, I would definitely go even if it wasn't expected of me.

I actually haven't gone for awhile. I was really sick for a few months, and couldn't go; now it's difficult to get back to it. The main thing is the church I usually go to has really long services, like 4 hours or more. The other one, with shorter services, starts at a really bad time for me (early).

Yeah, I'd still go to church. Sure, there are mornings where you're really tired, but it's always worth it when you do finally get up. The only thing that'd keep me from going to church when I leave for college in another part of the state/country would be if I were sick or just couldn't find one in my area that I felt led to. Still, if I was somehow unable to go to church on a regular basis, I'd try to find a small group or something that I could attach myself to. *nodnod*

My parents don't share all of my belives at the moment I think its fair to say, dunno any from school who goes to church though I know some outside the school who does. Still I love church, I often go there at sundays and I love to praise God allmighty.

I've never been forced to go to church. But I would go even if I was living alone. It's nice to just fellowship with other Christians and worship God.

I definitely was forced but now in college, I find that going to a church that I chose and I like helps me worship and actually ENJOY church so much better! For once in my life I look FORWARD to the pastor's sermons and I can worship how I want without fear of my parents being weirded out (I'm a hand raiser and my parents are all like ultra-conservative ppl who think that's inappropiate). I hated church before but now that I can decide where I'ds like to go and how I like to worship, I couldn't be happier! This is definitely incentive to stick with it!

It's always been a family thing for me. Not optional, but it doesn't feel forced. Now on my own, I still go every week and stay pretty involved.

I have this strange thing where if my parents tell me to go to church, I'd go because I have to.

But when I went to summer camp, and gave us the option to go to church on Sundays, I went on my own volition. Weird, right? I'm not that excited when my parents tell me to go, but I like going when I'm by myself.

I wouldn't say I was ever forced to go to church, my parents just took me when I was to young to care either way, and I've wanted to go since I was old enough to really make a decision (though my reasons have changed over the years). Now it's an important part of my life, and I really have no desire to spend the Lord's Day without going to church unless I really have to.

I was never really forced to go to church, but I will say, I definately don't go as much when I'm living at school, and thats partially due to the difficulty I'm having finding a church in my area.

I wouldn't say I'm "forced" but I am on the worship team, so I have to show up pretty much every sunday. It makes worship that much better for me.

I was a lot like you Puritan. I've wanted to go since I knew what I was doing but the reasons have changed. I'm definately glad that I've been going to church since I was little, I have a much better foundation and more knowledge of apalogetics than many christians who haven't been blessed with a solid church upbringing. Anyway the answer is yes I do go to church and I don't have to. Though sometimes I'll skip the service and help out in childrens church or the nursery because I don't really feel like sitting down and reviewing things if I've heard them before.
