Have you ever wondered what it would be like to suddenly be tens years older, and not remember anything from the past decade that you just jumped?

(It'd be... odd, to be sure. I quite frankly wouldn't care, because I am the one who forgets my age and my birthday as it is. ::shrug:: )

Personally, I would totally freak out and melt down...

edit: Woah! Totally missread the post... :P

Okay~

Let's try this again...

That sounds like the movie 13 going on 30. I think I'd be kind of down... I'd be almost 30 and have missed college completely. And what if I was living in a van down by the river... with no job... or... like kae says in the post after mine... I could be dead... that WOULD suck.

I wouldn't care a bit as long as my life was in a decent place.

Of course, what if you jumped forward ten years and found out you were dead? That would kinda suck.

I would be...aged...

O.O

28! And no longer underage! ...not that that really matters to me...so long as I don't find myself married to someone when I come to...

You don't want to be married? Or you don't want to be married and not know about it?

Did that make sense? Haha...

I would go ten years into the future, and then spend ten years building a time machine to send myself 19 years back in the past, and then I'd still be in the future, because 19 years in the past I'd have already traveled to the future, so I'd have to go 21 years back, and die, so I'd never end up going into the future.

That would certainly be a "What the Heck?" experience. It would be interesting to see if I found a girl in the intervening years. If not, odds are I'd be a confirmed bachelor.

I'd rather go the opposite direction and loose the last 30 years.

Oh, wow. I can't even imaging being 26. AGH! Scary. I'd be hopefully done with college and *gasp* married?! WOW!! I could even have kids by then. O.O That's too scary.

reminds me of that one song...

A Doctor sitting next to me
He asked me how I feel
Not sure I understand his questioning
He says I've been away a while
But thinks he has cured me
From a state of catatonic sleep

For 30 years
Where have I been?
Eyes open
But not getting through to me

Medicate me
Infiltrate me
Side effects appear
As my conscience slips away

Medicate me
Science failing
Conscience fading fast
Can't you stop what's happening?

That sounds like a rather nightmarish situation. Imagine loosing 10 years of your life for no good definable reason and finding out that everyone has literally moved on. Hmmm. Might make a good movie...

Frankly, there's really no point in asking anything, ever, because logic can probably prove the whole issue as a waste of time, but I think that asking oneself such odd questions brings the mind to be more open. It stetches you, and brings you to new ideas. Thinking is the most important thing in anything you do, and like anything else, you must excercise your mind by things like reading, and considering things you've never thought of before.

If I could go back 30 years to 1976 I would only be 17,which means I could redo the last 30 years of my life all over again.I think IF I could do that I would make some definite changes.Hopefully for the better.

Let's see, in 10 years I'll be 27. That's not very old... I hope I don't have kids yet, but I do I hope that I'm recently married. I wouldn't mind skipping all of the work I'll have to do in college, but at the same time, I'd miss the experience of college and being in my twenties.

Que Sera,Sera/Whatever will be will be/The future's not ours to see/Que Sera Sera.

In other words one cannot really say what ten years from now will bring.

That's a pretty good outlook, ML. I'm always stressing about what might happen. I suppose alot of us should just chill and take it as it comes. Although, let's not take it to the extreme. You've got to have some planning and direction...

But only take it a year at a time. That way you won't be too shocked and disappointed if all your plans don't work out the way you thought they would.

oooh...I like this SCI_FI question!
lemme think, lemme think now....hihi
If I would all of a sudden wake up an be 26 how would I feel? Surprised, maybe along the lines of:

*I wake up*
*Some guy is serving me breakfast, doing house chores and cleaning up*
Me: "WOW! Who are you? "
him:" Sweety, you know I'm your husband. ^^ "
me: "and that?"
him: " sweety, that's our kid. Isn't he just GORGEOUS?!"
me: "hey, I didn't plan on having any children!"
him: "Don't you remember? I convinced you! ;) "

@_@;

next thing you know: the husband was also once my ex BF....

That IS a good question, great, now I can't sleep tonight! Good job mate! :eh:

No, I have not wondered that, because the only ways that would be possible is through major memory loss requiring a severely traumatic experience, physical or psychological, or my being in a persistent vegitative state for the perscribed period of time. Both of these possibilities are so unlikely there is no reason to ponder them. Unless I suffer a stroke or develop Alzheimers in my old age, in such case memory loss is probably a secondary concern anyhow.

Admit it everyone of us who is 30 and over wishes that we could go back and relive our teens.

I think it'd really depend on the outcome of those skipped ten years. I'd have no problem missing school, that's for sure. But if I wasn't married yet, I'd really be very sad. :(
