So I don't know how many of you have heard this yet or not, but apparently, there's been a big outbreak of the e-coli virus in fresh spinach. I don't have the news article or anything (anyone who does, feel free to post it), but I did hear this morning that it's broken out in about 8 states. Anyways, just thought I'd post that little headline. XD;

Then it's true. And my sister broke my good Sony headphones over it. Must be the states around New York. Good thing I hate salad.

Cnn E.Coli Article
Ugh, I hear it's reached 10 states now -- This seems pretty bad! One person has already died because of it, and lots of other are very sick.
I'll be staying far, far away from that stuff...

it's all up and down the east coast. there was e-coli in the water used to water the spinach so it's no use trying to wash it. it's inside. *shiver*. i'm so glad i hate spinach.

Thanks for the alert. I eat fresh spinach often in my salad (blech, I HATE it cooked), so it's good to know.
And it's up to 11 states now...

Let me clarify that the news report said it was bagged spinach, not fresh.

I think I'll be staying away from raw spinach for a while. One can never be too careful. It's a shame though, because I love raw spinach in my salad. ;_;

But I like spinach v_v That is to say, I like it with seasoned salt (the answer to making typical gross veggies like broccoli and spinach taste GOOD^^) Hopefully this won't last for too long. I wonder how the heck you could geta disease like THAT from plants? I know already I've heard stories of food labourers and WHY you should wash your fresh food before you eat them >_<

Probably: "ack" *thud*
Seriously, though, the authorities are saying "don't cook it or clean it - just toss it!"
That's kinda rare lately.

Popeye only ate canned spinach so he would be ok still.Apparently canned spinach is still good to eat as only fresh bagged spinach is affected by the warning.
From what I understand they think some water that was used to clean the spinach was polluted with cow manure which caused the whole crisis.

They haven't warned against using lettuce, so I think other salad greens are still safe.

They traced the cause to a farm factory in California.Nonetheless the officials at the company were very apologetic and sad that their product had caused so much
grief to other people.

Wait, if it's something to do with the water, then is it bad to drink water? D:

If the water happens to be tainted with manure run-off, then yes - it's bad to drink that water.

Go for bottled or filtered water. I hate drinking from a tap, but for 7 weeks at Fort Jackson I had no choice.

It seems bad foods are not over yet. Carrot juice came up with something bad in it and now lettuce is being pulled from the shelves for the same problem as the spinach.

Well now we are back to bad food items again. Green onions at Toco Bell.
Don't eat that and don't touch that. Only thing we will get to eat is macadamia nuts and wax beans. This is from a old Flip Wilson and George Carlin comedy news skit.

So...I inadvertently ate some fresh spinach on a salad about two weeks ago. XD But I'm still alive and well, so I guess I'm ok! XD
