Okay i feel really stupid and dumb for asking this, i mean i have been a Christian for like since i was in the 6th grade ... and im in 11th now (man i feel old)... anywho, all the times i thought i knew the answer to this i never did, i always was acting so proud thinking i knew better than everyone else or that i was just because of certin reasons but ok here is the question...
HOW CAN I BE A REAL CHRISTIAN... i mean i know, i read my Bible and i do all that stuff, i have commited my life to Christ and all of that but its so hard
I go to school and im around non Christians and the people who are Christians but they are two faced.
I mean its so ERG how is it possibly possible to be a real Christian in my school, i mean yeah i know to be in the world but not of the world and that stuff but im constantly surrounded by cussing and the devil tried to kill me the week after i decided to have a Bible study at school.
But i will admit Bible study or not i have a temper... and when i say it i am not talking about a small one and i dont know how to react when someone offends me, because i usually end up slapping them... HARD i know i know turn the other cheek... BUT ITS HARD TO DO... you know i mean i just want to kill half of the people in my school.
Also i know God has told me to be more mature... im 16 im pretty mature, but only when i have to be, otherwise im a flippin hyperactive goofball im serious i dont know how to be mature around my friends i really dont its hard too but seriously...
Please tyr and help me.
I know i need tp read my Bible, pray, and that stuff but does anyone have any advice OTHER than that about anything i have mentioned?
Oh yeah and to save forum space... im getting nagged by my aunt and uncles to get a job, but im not even kidding with you its impossible to me to get a job in my small, dinky, little, town plase pray i get hired at walmart in Guthrie, i get a different job somewhere where i wont be worked so hard i cant get my school done, OR they stop nagging me
I mean, i really have no time for a job, but i have to get one because they want me to i feel pressured they want me to be like their kids and grandkids but im not them so idk...

Why must you mutilate the English language so much? What do they teach in schools these days?
But onto business. What is a real Christian? It's a toughie. A real Christian is someone who lives their faith, not just talks it. Someone who serves others out of love, no matter their position in life, race whatever. Someone who forgives unspeakable sins. Someone who befriends the weak and abused, the rich and hollow. Someone who shines God's light in the darkness.
I'm not going to lie to you and say being a Christian is easy (it's one of the hardest things ever) but God has given us the Bible, prayer, Christian friends and other things to communicate with him.
Keep doing the right thing, stop the slapping and people will see you for who you are - a child of God. You know, witnessing is a lot easier when you don't slap people. As Christians we have to set a good example and God gives us the Holy Spirit to guide in this, no way are we able to do it on our own strength.
God Bless mate!
(please try to remember to use full stops, capital letters, proper spelling and grammar, thank you)

So. The Lord told you to be more mature. What does He consider mature? Too often, we just assume we know what he means, when we're completely ignorant of His true meaning. Go back to God, ask Him how he wants you to be more mature.
The name "christian" was originally not something one claimed for oneself. We were originally call the people of the way. Way, as in road, as in path, as in we haven't "arrived". It's a continual process of walking with the Lord, and, yes, there are milestones, but really the key is just to keep your eyes on the One who knows the way. Seek the Lord, and find out what He says concerning you - and then don't be afraid to ask Him what He meant.
Spend time with other believers, especially those who are strong where you are weak. Find those people who make it easy for you to pray and hear God, or to see Him, or to perceive what He's doing - and get closer to them. Find people who are stronger in areas of the spirit where you lack, and get to know them better. Nobody has all the strength by themselves; it's in the body that we have power.

You have in fact taken your first step in realizing that the way your school is behaving is foolish, bear this in mind as you see the things they do and you will be better off.

Hi, well first of all don't get yourself down about this too much, I was raised in a christian home though I wasn't always a christian, but I have pondered this question long and hard
it says in the bible that we are supposed to be doers of the word and not hearers only
So we are supposed to put into practice all that the bible says
for example
love your enemies
and respecting parents
I especcially struggle in these areas and I know that I just have to ask God for strength
some of the most important things in the christian walk is reading the bible and also praying and talking to God but we have to activelly practice what God tells to do everyday and seek after him everyday
and if that happens we will grow as christians
this is all speaking from personal experience I hope it helps even a little bit
God Bless
Jade

We grow most through our struggles if we allow God to use them for his glory.

I don't think you shoud be stressed about other people being "two faced Christians"- it's not your loss or your problem it's theirs. Focus on your own faith, and your studies, and stay away from people that don't add positvity to your life. You are no more than the person beside you, and you don't know what these "two faced Christians" may be going through in the lives they don't talk about.

I am not really stressed about them to be honest, i am just frustrated i can be one of them.
I know that they go through things nobody is perfect least of all me.
I just want to be able to stop acting the way i do and to be able to live the right way for Christ that is basically it to be honest....

Jade Fox said it best, I think. Doing not just hearing. Sounds like peace is something your soul is longing for. Maybe read that book by Joyce Meyer, "In Pursuit of Peace." You may want to also pray that God takes all that passion you have and starts channeling it in a way that glorifies him. (I've found that the emotions that fuel my most destructive behaviors are also the ones that glorify God the most when he's in control of the emotions.) Hugs, chica.

i think the heart of this is the question "what is it that makes you a christian?" is it belief in God? no, it's written that even the demons believe and tremble, is it works, surely not, so then what is it? it is Christ indwelling you through the holy spirit that makes you a christian, when you made the first step and confessed your sins to God and repented of them and turned your life over to God and were indwelt with the Holy spirit, you became a christian at that point in time

Praise and worship are helpful, actually. I don't know why, but it seems like these things are vital to our Christian walk, if you don't get them it's easy to slip into sinful habits and / or get really depressed and negative.
