Wowsers! Steve Irwin (Crocodile Hunter) Died Today!

He died while filming a documentary in the ocean (a stingray barb is reputed to have stung him through the heart).
I don't have any more info as the news websites are down from all the activity but it's there, somewhere. This is sad news. For the tourist industry and for his friends and family. The guy was a bit of a nutter at times but he had real heart. Let's pray for his family okay? That they are comforted in this time and come to know Jesus.
We'll miss you mate!

Aww that's is so sad.
I hope he has gone to be with God.
He did seem like a really nice guy.
I remember a episode, where he was passing through a very poor town, and he gave some kids t-shirts, that he had with him.
I know people made fun of him a lot, but to me, he seemed just to act like a country bumpkin.
RIP Steve.

Well, at least he didn't trip on a banana peel and die that way.

I was informed of this several minutes ago. It is quite sad, indeed. Although, I must say, not as big a shock as it could be; he lived an extremely dangerous lifestyle.
Some informative news articles on the matter:

I thought it was a prank at first too, but he did have a risky line of work. I feel so awful for his wife, Terri and the family. Evidently Terri hadn't even been informed yet at press time because she was on a backpacking trip of some sort.
My little brother used to be such a massive fan of his.

He only a couple hours ago. Terri was backpacking the mountains of Tasmania (island off the coast of south-east Australia). Definetly not good news to hear whilst on a holiday. And they have two daughters, not one.

I'll definately pray for his family
I have being morbid or cynical, but I think most of us saw something like this coming... We just expected it to be snakes or crocs, not a stingray...

Snakes and crocs he could obviously handle. Although I was never a big fan, I certainly am going to miss him.

Yeah, because the odds of a stingray doing THAT is literally a million to one, due to the way they swim.

To be honest, the first thing I said when my friend told me was "Did a croc eat him?"
Friend: no, Haley, I'm serious. He's dead.
Me: I am, too. Did a croc eat him?
Now that I've gotten over the initial "aw, just a stingray?" reaction, though....I feel pretty bad about it. Particularly since the poor guy's kids were so young! I think most people knew it would happen someday, but it's still pretty sad...

I always expected him to be invincible, invulnerable, and never die. This is such a shock to my system. I am praying for his young family.

The dude provoked crocodiles for a living and a freaking sting ray got 'em.
IRONY!
In all seriousness, I will be praying for his family.

My roommate and I were chuckling at first because we thought it was a joke.
I mean, the Crocodile Hunter doesn't die. He just goes "CRikey, ain't she a beaut?!" and bounces back.
God speed, Steve Irwin

I was very sad to hear this. I was speechless for a while. I am a huge fan of his and still am. I loved his shows and have one of his books. It feels like a friend to me. It may sound wierd but it feels that way to me.

Man, I heard a rumor that he died when I was in like, 5th grade. So I kind of thought this was a joke-ish thing too, at first, but man! It's kind of like that Grizzly-Man guy (except the Grizzly-Man wasn't as famous); one too many risks, and eventually, you get burned, I guess. I'll be praying for his family, though; that's pretty rough. o_o

It's always the animal you least suspect. His mom died a few years ago--she was hit by a car. I just found out about it. It's so sad, I was a BIG fan of his! I think everyone will/had/will have the same reaction when they heard"Did a Croc get him?" My mom asked the same thing. I e-mailed him once and he actually replied! I wish I hadn't lost that printout. I really feel bad for his wife and his two kids.God bless you, Steve-O. Crikey, we'll miss ya.

Yes, it is sad news to see the croc hunter die, but you all knew that his work would eventually kill him, it was just sooner than I thought, weep. I hope it is a joke because I want to see this doc he was making.

Crikey. That threw me off when my mum told me.
It's wierd since we always joke around and expect a croc to get him in good-natured joking. But for something to actually get him...
Wow...
You know, after a while, you just don't expect anything to really get him aside from old age.
