Plane crash...

Are you guys watching the news? A plane crashed near Kentucky and out of 50 people, one survived. This is very sad. My thoughts are with the families...

From what I have heard about this crash is that the runway was too short for this type of aircraft that crashed. Other things are also being look into including the condition of the runways after they had been worked on.
In some way it will be made to be pilot error.

I saw that....that's really horrible.

Last I saw, the one survivor is in critical condition, so he definitely needs prayer, as well as the families of those who were in the crash.

If you're referring to the rumor that the plane taxied on to the wrong runway, I believe this has been discounted. The runway that would have been too short isn't even lit for night time operations. It would have been nearly impossible for the crew to make that kind of mistake.

It is my understanding that the runway used had in fact just been lengthened by 600 feet a week or two ago.

In a case where a plane crashes so soon after takeoff, the immediate suspicion is an engine failure. I hear the fuselage is mostly intact and the black boxes have already been recovered.

Wow, I hadn't heard about this. That's really sad...I'll be praying for the families, not to mention for the health of the one injured person. I find it amazing that s/he was the only survivor, though...wow.

I, personally, would find it hard to be the sole survivor of an accident like that. It must be hard . . . wondering why, out of all those people, you were the one to survive . . . knowing the families of the other 49 are wondering why it couldn't have been their loved one. At least, that's how it seems to me.

Apparently they've now changed their minds again and they're pretty sure it did in fact take off from the wrong runway, which is only about 3500 feet long. A Canadair Regional Jet needs at least 5-6000 feet to get airborne.

How this could happen is beyond me. The crew must have been absolutely braindead.

It is pretty terrible. I flew out of Louisville on Sunday and several people in my office thought I was on the plane since I usually fly out of Lexington. Quite scary. There was an accident a few years ago due to the shortness of the runway, where a plane ended up on US 60 in front of the airport. One woman died (she was being transported from one hospital to another when it happened.) Fortunately, none of the cars on the highway were hit. That is why the runway had been lengthened. Keep praying for the families of the victims and for the co-pilot, who survived the flight but is still in critical condition. And RedMage, please thank your Dad for his work helping Kentucky.
