Reminds me of O'douls, the non-alcoholic beer. Where it actually has like .03% alcohol or something.

I'm no teetotaler, but I find this sickening on so many levels. Are they trying to keep children from ACTUALLY having a childhood?

Everyone seems to want to be the same age nowadays.

That article makes me want to bite things. People want kids to grow up way too fast. Childhood is precious, they should savor it as long as possible, not hurry to get it over with.

Totally, it's not like the beer itself relaxes the drinker... it's the alcohol in it that gives that effect. So how will non-alcoholic beer "relax" a kid? Besides, I'm sure there's SOME traceof alcohol in them, a negliable amount. Kind of like O'Douls.

It's like kid's cigarettes. They are trying to get a generation to come back to them for the real thing later. lIke a certain company using a cartoon to advertize its products.

What a load of bull. The only reason this is out is to get children to believe that real beer is okay when they get in their teen years. Therefore, the real beer companies can sell beer out to a more varied range of ages while at the same time causing the teens who drunk this crap as a little kid to have an addiction for the rest of their lives and think it's "okay." Just like the kid's cigarettes.

I mean, beer is not good for a growing body, is it not? So why not juice? What the crap is wrong with juice? Same with cigarettes. Did smoke just recently become helpful for the human body? I dont think so. It's all about money and having "fun" these days... Makes me want to kick something.

However, there's nothing we can really do about it, though. I mean, either way, this world is just going to get worse and worse. All we can do is pray really... It's depressing, I know.

This probobly has something to do with the Japanese worldview on being drunk, while it is normally considered imoral to become drunk in the United States, within the nation of Japan they lack this philosophy. In fact, what you do while you are drunk is normally fine too. You can curse out your boss, tell people you don't like them, insult others... but you're drunk so it doesn't matter, there is probobly very little that will result from it. Quite a different reaction than if you were to try the same things sober (in which case Japan will probobly be the least forgiving). While we might have something to say over here, it will generally be disreguarded, change in this region is something for their own social philosophers to argue about as anything we would be interjecting would be seen as foriegn advice (consider Middle Eastern Countries attempting to tell us that we should have no beer at all... it would fly like a lead balloon). On the good side though, you probobly won't be seeing "kids beer", at least not in the US, that is unless our philosophy changes by a great deal, on the morals of drinking, or unless US senators start getting major paychecks in the mail... but that has to do with a completely different evil altogether, the Christian contingent in thenation holds ascendancy anything that disturbs us great enough to rise our voices will easily waver anything to our philosophies that we please. (suddenly contemplates that other nations read CAA besides US citizens... how simple of me... but I do not have a great deal of understanding about these other nations so I'll leave that discussion to them).

Kids ALREADY drink as young as 12...why encourage something so idiotic... =_= Beer is BAD!! It's unhealthy! I don't see why Kids would find it cool to even consider drinking "Kid's beer."

What I want to know is...What is wrong with Coke? Pepsi? Dr. Pepper? Or even ROOT beer? Come on, this is absolutely rediculous. I agree, everyone is tyring to make kids grow up way too fast these days. Ever looked in the kids section of a clothing store or department store like Target? The clothes look JUST like the clothes in the junior's section. Heck, I've glanced at shirts in the "little girl's" section and said, "Hey, that's kind of a cute outfit...little girl's section?! What the heck?!" XD It's a sad world we live in tody...Geez.

I got one word they care about : Money.

Goodness me, such angst. I hate to break it to the lot of you, but allowing kids in the range of ten and up (although 5 is quite young) to drink beer (though typically of lower alcohol content than normal beer) has been and is normal in many parts of Europe, and the same goes for wine. Beer has been shown to be nutrient dense and has been shown to have some good health effects (the alcohol and problems associated with overconsumption are the main concerns), so it is in some ways understandable that parents might allow or encourage their children to drink a non-alcoholic version. While I can see the argument that this could lead to problems with drunkenness if the children are encouraged to drink alcoholic beer, if society handles this correctly it won't necessarily lead to problems. While I do not condone either drunkenness or underage alcohol consumption, and I can see the problem with attempting to move children into alcoholic substances early, I don't think this is the end of western civilization.

You raise a good point.

But the problem with this product is parents. Parents who don't care about their kids enough to explain the differences and place restrictions on such things. Why do you think there are so many fat kids today?

It's not the product itself I'm mad about, it's the way these companies try to exploit kids to make a buck, and the way that many parents don't seem to give two poops about their children.

Besides, what happened to making a fortune off selling TOYS to kids, like in the 80s and 90s? At least toys encourage creative play to some extent.

I was going to share my opinion, but that comment knocked all the wind right out of me. ^^

When I was much younger, I used to be given some wine with dinner on special occasions. My schoolmates, who had a much more continental heritage than I did often had wine with their families. I'd say that the utterly paranoid attitudes that seem to prevail in the US are a good deal unhealthier. It's as if people see no middle ground between abstention and drunkeness (which ultimately encourages the idea that alcohol is for gettin drunk). We can't hide alcohol away like it's some scary, mysterious thing and expect healthy drinking habits to result.

This "kid's beer" BTW is nothing more than non-alcoholic beer, which is already available to anyone who cares to buy it whether they are of legal drinking age or not.

Oh, even more money is made selling toys to children today than in earlier years, I understand. Kids are being marketed to on a more constant basis than ever before, largely, I think, because parents do seem to be more apt to simply placate their children than actually take the time to deal with them correctly. And I agree that this would be the true danger of such a product, misuse because parents are not raising their children correctly. However, with the ill-effects associated with the sugar and acid in soda and the increased obesity in society, I wonder if getting kids to drink a relatively low-sugar non-alcoholic drink made from yeast, grain, and the flower of the hop plant is all that bad.
