How do you Exercise?

For those of you who do exercise, how do you do it?

I usually run either around my neighborhood 3 times which is about 2.4 miles and then weightlift every other day. After doing this for only a month I lost about 20 pounds! I also watched my calorie intake as well.

I have a 3 month gym membership and my friend went with me for one month... but now I have no motivation to go back on my own (not like I have a car to do it or anything). Guess I'll have to make some sort of program for myself to do at home now, though :/

I don't do enough excercise. I don't enjoy it. I know I need it (not weight wise I'm only 78kg and 6'4 tall) but because it's important to keeping healthy.
I usually go for walks and sometimes use our excercise bike. Got any tips to help encourage those who find excercise hard to enjoy - like me?

Well... for me I know that I didn't want to excercise because of all the work that was involved. The more I have begun to do it the more I enjoy it... but it still is a chore. I usually listen to OTR (old time radio) or music on my MP3 player so that the time goes by much more quickly.

Maybe you could listen to some of your favorite music while exercising.

Mmmm... good suggestion. It's not the work that turns me off. I'm just not a sporty person. I prefer a good book, drawing or writing my novel. But playing games (soccer, cricket, handball etc) with friends always helps. It's the times I'm by myself or with family that are the hardest to be motivated. Put down that book! (lol)

I weightlift 3 or 4 times a week and run 2-3 miles or so every other day. I've been doing that solid for a good year and half. My suggestion would be somewhat along the lines of what Linksquest said.

Start a simple program for yourself first off. Some weight lifting and cardio is good for everybody. Don't put too much thought into at first or you will get burned out on it quickly. Just go do something try lifting, try running, try a new sport, but make it within your limits. Start easy and slowly work yourself up whether it's weights, running, or whatever.

You're not going to like it for the first month or two. I didn't at first but now after doing it for so long I don't feel right unless I get it in. I can see the difference in myself endurance and strengthwise from when I rarely exercised back then and now and it's made me feel really good. If anything once you get in the habit of it you will start to feel good about yourself.

Oh and of course a healthy diet goes along with any kind of physical fitness. They go hand in hand so eat healthy or at least cut back on the not so good stuff.

I useually do 70 nose to floor pushup's. Weightlifting and 30 heavy situps. Then I do some leg softness exersises. There is also soccer training one day a week, but i've been busy these last weeks so I have not showed up there for a while. Gonna start soon I think.

I have recently started doing some other things as well. I hope to start training capoera during the summer break.

Hiking and long walks with friends. I enjoy cycling, but I need to get myself going again. I lift with home-made weights and do pull ups and chin ups on our swing in the back yard. Oh yeah, baby.

Syreth you hunk! (lol) j/k

Weights, chin-ups etc? People, I hate sport or any physical activity. Many of these aren't exactly helping. (lol) Think I'll stick to bike riding and walks.

I use the Yourself! Fitness game for the PS2. Sometimes I take walks, but it's either really hot out or really wet and sticky out.

I either ride my bike or walk for 30mins.

Excercise...? o-o

Actually, I do often walk around our church while listening to my MP3/CD player (I don't time myself really; I just wait till I finish what I'm listening to, which takes typically around an hour).

-Going for 45 minutes to an hour on the Eliptical Machine while watching TV
-Cycling, an especially good workout because all of the neighborhoods where I live are built on big, continuous hills which I always seem to find myself at the bottom of >_<
-Distance swimming, unfortunately I don't get to do this too often

I definately agree. I actually have more energy now that I excercise. If I don't do it, it feels weird.

Both of those are good as well!

Each person is different and different things work for them. Try a few different ways to excercise. Sports are a great way to excercise!

If all I had to do to excercise was use willpower... I think I'd be in much better shape

I try to jog every morning(try being the key word) and I usually take my dog with me. If I'm in the mood, I play some DDR, because it really works my abs. Gotta love video games that are actually good for you.

How to I exercise? Simple...Remote goes up, remote goes down, remote goes up, remote goes down...need I say more?

Seriously, I like walking around malls and downtown in my hometown. For those familiar with the Baton Rouge area, picture walking from the State Capital to the River Center and back. I also like dancing to music (In my car and otherwise!)

I sprint until I feel nauseous, then I will lift weights until my muscles can't lift any more. 'Tis fun ~ I'm using this method where one does the reps very slowly. I like the burnt-out feeling I get when i do it right. I also plan on doing DDR on the weekends ~ I just need to get some more games. I'll also be [hopefully] joining a local gym and taking tai chi and kickboxing lessons.

evilness of exercise...evil.

I don't exercise... except for 10 - 60 mile bike runs every so often, a brisk one mile walk during break at work most every day, occasional pushups, attempts to breakdance that ultimately end up with me getting some part of my body bruised, and climbing stuff (trees, houses, etc.)

but i digress. Exercise is evil, and not only because it's so evil to spell....
