Summer '06 Chess Tournament
PostPosted: Fri Jun 02, 2006 3:23 pm
Running semi-concurantly with the Summer '06 Pacman Tournament is somewhat of a new experiance to the CAA game tournaments: the Summer '06 Chess Tournament, to be held on Yahoo! Games.
Registration is currently OPEN. The registration requirements are as follows...
(points 0.1 and 0.2 aren't really requirements, just suggestions)
0.1- A knowledge of the game of chess. I, personally, don't wanna have to teach anyone how to play chess via the internet, and if you don't know how to play, you probably won't find this tournament very fun.
0.2- It is recommended that you take some time to familiarize yourself with Yahoo! Games' chess interface. It's pretty straight-forward, but checking it out won't hurt.
1. You must have a Yahoo games account. This is free, and you can get one by clicking the Sign Up link at the top of the Y! Games main page. You must also be willing to post that Yahoo! username in this thread.
2. You must have a working e-mail address (and have it in your Yahoo account settings--further explanation as to why later on.)
3. You need to have Java Runtime Environment. Chances are that you have this already; if you don't, Firefox will prompt you to download the appropriate plugin.
4. You must not have an age displayed in your CAA account that is less than 14. Due to the fact that Yahoo is a very open network, there are people on there who can turn a conversation pretty nasty/obscene or solicit themselves in ways that is degrading. In an effort to protect our younger members from being exposed to such vulgarities, I'm afraid that I will not allow anyone under the age of 14 enter this tourny. Sorry. (Note: if the admins would like for me to raise/lower/abolish this age requirement, I will do so).
Registration will remain open until the end of Wednesday June the 14th. So, if you're interested in partaking in this tournament, please check to make sure that you meet each of the registration requirements and post in this thread to sign up!
