CAA: Christian Anime Alliance

This thread is essentially the opposite of the "fashion trends you never quite understood" thread.

Mine are:
-empire-waisted dresses from the early nineteenth century
-late eighteenth century silk and taffeta ballgowns with lace trim on the three-quarter-length sleeves and stomachers
-drop-waisted and flapper dresses from the 1920s
-Renaissance princess dresses with billowing sleeves
-1950s sheath dresses
-1960s MOD-print minidresses(Twiggy rocks!)
-1984 Madonna style
-1930s/1940s glamorous Hollywood high fashion in general(look up old pictures of young Joan Crawford and you'll see what I mean!)
-stilleto pumps(uncomfortable but chou kakkoi!)
-'80s high fashion that used lots of hot, neon colors

I just love past fashion, period. That's why I got into fashion doll collecting.

Complex Victorian-era dresses...can be absolutely beautiful. ^^

Being a history nut... I love all kinds of different historical fashions. But mostly, at some point in my life, I want to wear them. I went as a [generic] ancient Roman woman for Halloween last year. XD

I especially like:
American Colonial fashion (1760s-1780s-ish)
Renaissance gowns
Civil War era, southern bell type gowns

hmm...I'm seeing a trend, I guess I really just want to run around in a gorgeous gown with a huge skirt, whether it has layers of slips or hoops. hee... X3
I am seriously contemplating making something for Halloween this year.

You mentioned pretty much everything I would've. Especially the empire waist and the 1930s/40s Hollywood glamour.

~ Bellbottoms. [Yes, I would wear bellbottoms. Black or purple, preferably.]
~ Big cuffs. [Big cuffs pwn j00.]
~ Ascots. [I want a purple silk ascot.]
~ Kimono and hakama. [What!?]
~ Waistcoats.
~ Modest swimwear. [Heh. Only half-joking, though.]
~ Poet shirts. [I am ~so~ buying one or two when my finances turn around.]
~ Top-boots. [These would be oh so much fun.]
~ Jingasa. [The cone-shaped metal Japanese soldier helmets. Double as a pot for cooking ramen. FTW.]
~ Those armbands guys used to wear around their biceps with dress shirts around, what, the turn of the 20th century? [I don't know why, but they look cool.]
~ Cameo chokers. [If I ever meet a girl dumb enough to be my significant other, I would ~so~ make her one of these that features an anime version of her. Dorky, yes. But I would do it.]
~ Clerical collars. [My pastor has one black and one purple shirt with clerical collars that he said I could have. I need to take him up on that.]

Hoop skirts. Hoop skirts are awesome. XD I had to wear one last year in The King and I; it was a blast! Other than that, though, I love the clothes from the 20's, and lots of clothes from the Victorian era. So pretty!
