HANOVER, Pa. -- A 13-year-old boy told police his mother required him to do his homework first thing when he got off the school bus, then smoked marijuana with him as a reward.

The boy's mother said she had been smoking marijuana with him since he was 11, usually as a reward, according to court documents.

The interviews came after police executed a search warrant at the woman's home during the weekend and seized marijuana, an array of drug paraphernalia, and $600 in cash that she said belonged to a drug dealer, court documents said.

Amanda Lynn Livelsberger, 30, was scheduled for a preliminary hearing Friday on charges of marijuana possession, corruption of minors, endangering the welfare of children and possession with intent to distribute drug paraphernalia, police said.

A telephone listing for Livelsberger couldn't be found and it wasn't immediately clear whether she had an attorney.

Police said the woman said she also smoked marijuana with two of her son's friends, ages 17 and 18, and the 18-year-old told investigators he had also bought heroin from her.

That's just sick. I can't believe any person would do that, much less to their own offspring. Hopefully that boy won't be messed up for the rest of his life due to drugs. :(

Somehow, I'm not that surprised :/ I've heard worst things that parents do to their kids and it can be really sad and even sick sometimes :/ ...but things like that will happen in the world today, sadly enough :/ I'm honestly scared for the new generation who are about 13ish right now^^ They are SO much more different than in my day...

No kidding. Though I am sure those who have grown up fifty or so years ago would find stuff like this ten times more appalling. It's bad enough that parents today would lose perspective of their roles and avoid setting a good example for their children. Thinking that this kind of thing would only be a footnote of what is to come in future generations is indeed a worry.

question: What about parents that drink with their kids? The bad effects of pot are pretty much the same as getting drunk: Lower coordination, lowered inhibitions, minor brain damage, but alcohol is easier to overdose... Those parents should be arrested too

Overall, I agree that's pretty stupid to do...

Yea, I've known alot of parents in my high school days who would let their kids drink, smoke, etc, "as long as it was all at home"....Needless to say, most of them ain't doin so good right now...
As vast as the world around you may seem, in actuality, it's a very small place.
The limits of your experiences, the sphere that's within your reach, Ultimately defines limits of your understanding.
The world as you know is not reality.
That is a world you have created yourself.

I guess that's why I feel it's so important for us to set an example for this new generation. If we do not, then I fear that we may lose them forever...

So long as we remember to be salt and light, there will be hope... no matter how small.

Whaaaaat.... that's... crazy... I guess it's just the world we live in these days. It seems to get worse and worse. So many people at my school discuss drugs and doing drugs during class... sometimes... drug deals even happen in some of my classes while they are still in session... crazyness...
