Slik Hammocks were banned in the army in May of 1971. Do you think are troops deserve better than sleeping in the mud?

Elaborate.

Hammocks are the world's most advanced sleeping device. They need no legs and, if secured with a single tether on each end, can rotate violently for comedic effect! Hammocks can also be granted more stability by using a pair of tethers, but this is generally frowned upon as it removes both the soothing rocking and the possibility of violent ejection.

Oh crap, Josh. You're confusing even me!

That said, I always wanted a hammock, but I doubt I'd ever get one. I don't have any trees or poles at my home in close proximity to each other.

But hammocks are so much fun. Not sure how they'ed work in the Middle east and all that but...

Why were they banned anywho?

I personally think hammocks, while in theory sound great and versatile are actually an elborate death trap. Anyway that's what I've experienced.

Maybe the troops found the silk hammocks so comfortable they didn't wake up to fight. Hence they had to be banned.

I'm confused. Why "silk" hammocks?
Anywho, I like hammocks but hey are indeed quite dangerous. Two nasty falls from my sneaky toddler of a nephew taught me that.
*Sigh* They're so cute until they master doors...
