I'm sure we all have mispronounced stuff as young children. Now it is time to share them!

When I was very young, i always pronounced "vanilla" as "valinna"
Also with the lotion brand "Lubiderm", i pronounced it "Lubadubader"

lol i would call my Grandpa "Papka!" XD

My parents cracked up laughing once, when I ran into the room asking "Who's the Pop-Pei?", to whom I was referring as the Pope (no offence intended, of course). My parents still bring this up every now and then for humor value. XD

EDIT: I've just remembered the most embarrassing mispronounciation I made in junior high. Raisins are called "kismis" in my native language. I was asking my male teacher about them but I kept pronouncing it as "kismi." I said that a few times and wondered why everyone was staring at me. I suddenly realized that I sounded like I was asking him to "kiss me." AWW NUTS. I so wanted to dig a hole and disappear. It had to be some Freudian slip 'coz I did have a crush on the teacher then....kinda. (^_^;; )

Never mind mispronounciations.....OT: I used to spell certain things as a child so horribly I could die of embarrassment. I think I spelled/spelt Cinderella as Cindynelrie and my mum still retains tangible proof of this crime (I knew I shouldn't have scribbled onto the whiteboard eraser!)

I used to saw "wawa" for water... and my lil sister said "umpeal" for oatmeal! ^-^

my little cousin used to pronounce "pokemon" like "poh-deh-juu"

I not only thought it was pronounced "Nucular" but also that it was spelled "Nucular" I think I used the correct and incorrect pronunciation interchangeably.

This wasn't when I was a kid, more when I was in HS, but I pronounced "Genre" phonetically instead of the french way... the thing is, I threw it around so flippantly, and I had heard the correct way of pronouncing it, butI never put two and two together...

When I was a kid, the big thing at my church was "Tell the devil to sit on a tack" I thought they were saying "sit on attack" and I tried to imagine what that looked like... Like he got poked by a bayonet or soemthing...

Also, the prayer I learned as a child, I didn't knwo what it was about, and it was more like "Lettuce thankum four uh food" and I didn't know what they were trying to get me to say, so it didn't exactly mean anything to me...

I dunno, I've always read a lot, so I'd often pronounce things phonetically. I could use them properly and all, but I just couldn't say them. XD It still happens, too.

well as a little kid i could pronouce buttons so i said butts

....so with recently discovering that the word "faux" is a pun on itself and not pronounced "fox". And so even more recently (just 2 days ago actually) realizing that it's not spelled "fo hawk" its a 'FAUX hawk" :/

....going back in my EARLY years now, I always used to think "make believe" was "maple leaf"... can't think of any wrong word pronounciations cause I was able to read ever since I remember :/ (Tapes w/books helped my words too I guess^^)

well.. with me it's sometimes reading words in print for the first time that I have said a lot but never seen. "Hors devours" I read as "Oars Da-vores" ROFL !!! XDDD

Refridgerator became "fridge-id-gater" and Gatorade was "Gater juice."

On a related note, all my cousins/siblings have called me "Ahh-eee" and my mom "Aunt Nay" (Instead of Aunt Renee)

Heh, I had a bear that would sing something about a magical time and I thought it was a magiba time. My mother and myself would debate this issue. I also have a little sister that said this year instead of sobbed loudly, so-bed luby. It was very funny.

Haha, actually until recently I also mispronouced "genre" It was jen-ir....

When I was a toddler, I always referred to the 'pickup truck' as the 'kip-puck.'
I still manage to get my consonants switched around very frequently.

My cousin used to call 'pump jacks' - 'jack-lackers.' XDXD

Several years ago, I referred to 'denizens' as 'denziens' in front of my dad, and got called on it. lol, he's always the one who catches my embarrasing moments.

Tried to say Apocalypse during a Halloween (I was a doom prophet) and it came out as "acopalypts"

I used to call salsbury steak "strawberry snake"....my mom never corrected me

This one is especially amusing... since you come from Canada!

My brother used to say Jofes instead of Joseph. So it was "Mary and Jofes and Baby Jesus".

I've probably got lots of weird ones that I can't remember at the moment...
Ah, another one: I thought cavalry (as in horses) was the same as Calvary (in pronounciation and spelling, just different meaning). "Infantry and calvary".

I know someone who used to say, "Bus-GEH-tee."


(I also know someone who's first word as a baby was, "Barley.")

I've also heard it pronounced "puh-sketti".

I used to not say the "S" sound, instead saying words like "nake" and "quare." I called noodles "doodles", medicine "meniness", vitamins "viteetee", amen "awee", and bananas "aduh". Do not ask why I said that last one.

I used to get shoulder and soilder mix up. My sister called honey, puney and purple was purkel. I read too much so I say things wreidly cause I never heard them before.

I used to mispronounce my name, Joshua, as "Fandango."

Even today I sometimes still make this fatal error.

Binoculars = Blockners
Joseph = Jophes (pronounced 'Jofess')

I did that myself. The one I remember most (from being reminded of it later in life) was that I pronounced Dillard's "Deerd's", and Foley's was "foh-dees". Then "na-kin" instead of napkin, 'pun-kin" instead of pumpkin.

For some reason still unbeknownst to me, at the tender age of 4, I called Captain Bucky O'Hare (of the awesome cartoon made to sell action figures, Bucky O' Hare and the Toad Wars) "Swatty O'Hare."

Also, when I was much, much younger, I thought "lightsaber" was "life saber."
