CAA: Christian Anime Alliance

Ah...science fair. Most people have gone through it or are still going through it. :O Thankfully I never have to do one again. For those of you that have done it, what are some experiences you've had experimenting or at the actual fair?



:d I had the pleasure of discovering one the most absurd science experiments ever. These two guys were going to see how the paranormal affects temperature. They got the idea from the 6th sense, where it gets cold every time a ghost is around. So they went to allegedly haunted places...and just sat there, staring at an electric thermometer. I can tell you, seeing the pictures just made me laugh.

lol that's funny. one time i made a battery out of apples, copper, zinc, and some wire... i got enough electricity to light an LED light

In elementary school I placed dry ice inside of tin pan with water, and then observed similarities between vapor formation from the dry ice and clouds. My basic hypothosis was that weather phenonmena in supercells could be simulated with smaller scale models using dry ice vapor. I found that when I blew through it, small vortices formed caused by the force of my breath. I had all kinds of crazy things about the weather on my board, I wanted to be a storm chaser at that time. I enjoyed it alot!

We got the All-Wide Science Fair just around the corner and I've been straining for a project. So far alls I've come up with is the effects of gasoline. On fire.

I'm not a science person, so I'll tell you about my friend's experiences. He went to the state finals for rocket engines. They had their expenses paid for, including their own hotel room. They then proceeded to moon the entire city and made giant spitwads and hurled them at the window. I don't think they placed in finals, but from the story it sounds like they had a blast -- even if they were mischeivious.

I always had the most stupidest ideas XD In like 3rd grade, I had one about "How much food a dog eats" or something. And my data was horribly inaccurate XD In 7th grade, I recorded which type of soil peas grew best in. Dirt from outside or commercial soil you bought at the store. My conclusion was that the dirt was more efficient when growing peas. Which my teacher said was incorrect >_>

My Physics teacher calls those types "Plant killing experiments." XD

lol, for some reason i've never gotten good results when doing "plant killing experiments" one time i had to do one and the point was to see how many seeds were made, and my plant had 1 seed, and when i was trying to remove it to pass it in for credit, i had the tweezers out to do so and it slipped out and fell and i lost the seed forever. so i had no seeds to pass in.

I used LEGO's robotics kit to evaluate the overall utility of three different robot propulsion systems: four wheels, six wheels, and treads. It was pretty cool. We built tracks with obstacles and made the robots (or rather, one robot configured three ways) run on them. I forgot which one won (I think it was the six-wheeled system, but I dunno).
