He's probably just proving a point. You can sue ANYONE for ANYTHING.

No, he's just money hungry... That's it... Not trying to prove a point that it's a stupid suit, which it is...

"Genius may have its limitations, but stupidity is not thus handicapped." - Elbert Hubbard

That about sums it up.

errr.... words escape me. It seems more of a publicity thing more than anything else. I can't believe that they would actually take it this far though.

Ah, the beauty of odd news...

I hope you're joking. If not, my condolences to your family for your uncle's loss (i.e., the car). ;)

Its not the guy that is stupid, it is our legal system if this goes through. California...

It's the money. Since the husband was in his job working for the city, this couple thinks they found a loophole to legally exploit, since the city is liable for it's employees. Knowing California, this might actually work, unfortunately.

haha..wow. that's like one of those cheap con-man stunts in comedies. how sad. however, yes....if there is some legal loophole that allows a win, i will be so disgusted with the system.

Yep, I was seeing how many people would burst into apologies at calling him stupid. My idea of a bad joke.

I remember reading some years ago about a guy who committed a crime (I forget what), and then tried to sue himself directly for getting himself drunk and violating his civil rights. Further, since he was considered a ward of the state, he wanted the state to pay the damages.

I believe that one got just far enough into the system to be handed back with a "you're a bloomin' idiot" response.

I want him to win.

I know, wouldn't it be embarassing if you sued yourself and lost?

Well, technically you would also win....

Of course this is a country that allows lawsuits to start from teens suing McDonalds for their being fat :shake:

Whatever happened to taking responsibility?

It takes a village to take responsibility... It's the fault of everyone who raises you if you are stupid. Never your fault individually... So, whenever someone commits a crime, their neighbors, friends, and family should go to jail...

I think that's a little different, because McDonalds (as well as some other fast food places) *does* put addictive things in their food, which is not cool, especially when their food is unhealthy.

That's funny. I was wondering what this would be about when I opened the thread.

I don't mean to single anyone out; I quote merely for context. I'd remind everyone to keep this civil and relatively on topic. While this shouldn't really be controversial, I can see the potential for an irrelevant argument.

I think in the end...as a society...we have a hard time accepting responsibility. We need to blame someone. If we can't eat right, we blame the place we buy food from. If we can't stop smoking, we blame the company selling us the stuff. Somtimes I think it would be refreshing if people would work more towards doing somthing themself... rather then act like the world owes you everything. *shrug* Guess I am just ranting. What do I know. ^^
