What should I buy?

Postby The Last Bard » Fri Mar 03, 2006 8:23 am

So it was my birthday about a week ago, and I got a bunch of stuff, including some gift cards.
And after buying Blame! 1-2 I now have $30.00 left on my gift card for Barnes and Nobles.
And after buying Ruin Soldier, I now have 25.00 + on my Best Buy gift card

Barnes and Nobles - $30.00
Best Buy - $25.00 (Or anything around $30.00)

I'm thinking I want manga from BN but I don't know which ones...
And I either want anime or movies from Best Buy.

Oh, and I'm thinking about either Death Note or Fruit Basket, but I'm wondering if Fruits Basket is a shojo manga...?

So just tell me what you guys think I ought to buy ;)

Thanks! Aaron

If you want my two cents, Fruits Basket is excellent. From what I have read of the manga (and I havn't read all of it, mind) it is excellent, and I really enjoyed the anime. It may be shojo, but plenty of guys like it. I've never seen Death Note so I can't compare the two, but Fruits Basket would definately be worth your while to check out.

It is targeted towards girls, yes, but I know many guys who like it. You could skim through it in the store. (It's mainly a shojo because of the art style.)

Money, get away
Get a good job with good pay and you're okay
And all and all you're just another brick in the wall
Shoutin’ in the street gonna take on the world some day
But Bismallah will not let me go
Because I'll see you on the dark side of the moon

Tommy used to work on the docks
Union's been on strike
Bright eyes burning like fire
And exposing every weakness
However carefully hidden by the kids

Who will love a little Sparrow
Who's traveled far and cries for rest
Spare him his life from this monstrosity

I've seen a million faces and I've rocked them all
And if the band youre in starts playing different tunes
We will we will rock you
We will we will rock you!

death note is really good too, they're both excellent choices. why not getting one of each, and whichever one you like better get the 2nd volume of?

Yay for monster!! I agree, excellent series. I'm going to have to invest in that one someday. Of course, I have many things to invest in right now, so who knows when that will be. I vote for monster as well, but go for what appeals to you -- I dunno what you're looking for... sci-fi? realistic fiction? fantasy? Monster is a realistic suspense.

Sweet! Thanks a lot you guys! I spotted Monster for the first time the other day, and picked it up but put it back. I'm thinking that was a bad choice...lol
I'll probably get one of each like you guys suggested.

Thanks, and feel free to post as many ideas as you have, as I'm always open.
