Damascan steel

Anyone have a link to a non welded damscan dagger? I have been searching through the knife sites I know of and the respectable ones have damascan knives in styles I truly dont like (i want a dagger or stilleto style (not the pop out style the old stilleto (long needle like almost point)) And a lot of the ones that came up through google search were dubious sounding or obviously welded.

So does anyone know of a site that has a lot of these beautiful knives?

I don't know any good knife sites...But you can go to the library and check out some of the knife catalogs that they should carry. I would also recommend going to "The Naked Edge Cutlery Store" if you have one in a mall near you. The attendants there might be able to help. And on a completly seperate note I would think it would be awesome if I could find a damascus steel sword.

Those cost close to a grand, all the knives That haven't been really big that are damascus steel are $120+. The process must cost quite a bit of money to make, or maybe its the very few people who can acctually make it...

Perhaps I really should clarify what I am wanting. I am wanting the created Wootz steel knives instead of pattern welded, pattern welded do not have as beatiful patterns on the blade and tend to not be as sharp or sturdy, a good wootz steel blade can cut a silk cloth by simply dropping the cloth over the blade. A pattern welded blade cannot.

Ah I see...Sorry but I can't help you there. Though if there are any knife shows in the area I'd recommend that you check them out...You might find what you need there.

Your best bet to find a true Damascus steel blade of any sort is to contact museums that carry reconstructed replicas and find out if their metalsmith does work for independent persons. As your article stated, no one has definitely discovered the secret to smithing Damascus steel - reconstruction attempts have made passable matches that museums use, but if you want a true Damascus steel blade, you're going to have to see about purchasing from a collector.

Yeah I am wanting a replica, even if it isnt totally the same, I just dont want the welded stuff since it really is not better then my daggers I have now...
