Has anyone ever caught the bug that is "impulse shopping?" You know that feeling you get when you have a little extra money in your wallet and find something you want right away without thinking twice about it?

It never occured to me that going into the mall will ignite such impulse. Especially when you begin to hear the "other side" of yourself, telling you that you should save your money on well-thought out purchases!

Luckilly I withstood such temptation recently, almost having bought something for $250 that I really didn't need at the time (but I wanted it upon viewing it).

It most definately pays having a clear head when shopping.

I'm terrible at impulse shopping - in other words I do it a lot. More than I should, really. It is a big stumbling block for me, financially. But I'm fighting it. I can (relatively) control it these days.

I'm not so much an impulse shopper as an uninhibited shopper. If I want something and can find it for a reasonable price, I have no qualms about buying it on the spot. I can't be given cash though, it burns a hole in my pocket faster than anything, and I 'have' to spend it.

Drives my family crazy around holidays because I just get myself stuff instead of waiting to ask for it as a gift. I have to sit down and make a list and keep very strictly to purchases not on the list.

Considering that I am a college student with a very limited income, it would be wise for me to better control my spending.

Buying manga is a bit of a problem for me. Heh. I have gotten better, only buying new manga in series I already have and only getting new series after one or two others I have are completed. (Seriously, this has been a problem for me, I've purchased well over 100 volumes of manga since I've been in college, a little over a year and a half; so I'm very glad that I have been cutting down )

I've bought a few drawing books this way and a couple cheap dvds, but that's about it. I usually have an idea in mind before I go shopping, but I don't have a whole lot of money. (lol)

I generally don't have that problem; I usually deliberately go out to buy something, buy it, and go home.




I wonder if anyone will get this...

I do it sometimes. Sometimes I'm glad I did it, and other times I'm sorry I did it. I usually don't have any money to spend though, so it can't be too much of a problem.

Or maybe that's WHY I don't ever have money. I always spend it right away, without saving it...

I'm a very impulse buyer. If I have money to spend and I go to the mall, I'll spend it all. If I don't have the chance of going to the mall, I'll order it online. I'm always happy with my purchase though. ^_^ I was going to buy clothes on my b-day last year. Ended up buying one shirt and three mangas. And mom gave money. And I ordered manga online. Lol.

I'm pretty terrible at impulse buying, especially since I can just go do some extra shifts and work it off. Then I get buyer's remorse. -_-

Getting better about this though! It just helps to stay the heck out of stores and eBay.

Buying 4 volumes of manga because It was Monster and Yotsuba... I find myself buying on impulse time to time.

This is one thing that isn't a problem for me. I am barely ever in stores of any kind, and that is generally only for specific things that I need. Of course, it helps that I don't carry any methods of purchasing things.

This is probably my biggest financial stumbling block. What I do to counteract it is go to the stores WITHOUT cash or any way of purchasing anything. If I'm going specifically for something, I ONLY bring enough cash to buy what I need. I have more things than I can account for that are just sitting there that I've never used...thing I bought on an impulse shopping spree.

No, not really. Sometimes when I'm at a store with a lot of cheap junk, they'll have some anime DVDs for around $5 that I might buy.

Otherwise, I usually buy what I go to buy.

I try to do this same thing. If I'm going to Walmart or something to get milk, I only take enough money to get it and leave the rest of it in the car or something.

Impulse buying isn't a problem for me (I tend to think myself out of just about any purchase over five dollars by the time I get to the counter)... unless I'm at a thrift store.

If I have the money for it, and see something that I want, I can't stop myself from buying it. Though I'm getting better at avoiding that ^^

I'm a starving college student, so I do have to watch how much I spend. I only work during the summer, so that has to last me through the school year. No pretty shoe collection for me.

I totaly buy on Impulse. Bargin racks at Hot Topic are my undoing...If somthing is cheap...and a good deal...even if I don't really need it....you know.

i usually put around $5.00 in my wallet every week or two for impulse purchases, and once i've spent that, i can't spend any more. (I am only impulsive with cash, my debit card is never used to by anything unless i've been planing on buying it for a while - probably because i don't put any money on it uless i need to buy somthing)

It depends.IF I have plenty of money and there's something I want that I see,say
a book entitled QOUN'S GUIDE TO LIFE with illustrations from RahXephon,then yeah
I'd buy it on impulse.But rarely do I actually do it.For example when I was at
B & N this last time they had something like The Art Of Inuyasha,it was $14.95 and had illustrations of characters,etc.really good.
I really..Really...REALLY wanted to buy it but had to calm my impulse.

Impulse buying totally destroys my budget. :\

I'm an impulse buyer on occasion, but I do restrain myself most of the time. I'm usually the voice of reason for my aunt, who is a much worse impulse buyer than myself.

I usually go back and forth on things for a long time. If I impulse buy something, it may take six months to do so.

I consider my purchases so thoroughly sometimes that my shopping is practically Sarbanes-Oxley compliant. (joke)

I can't impulse buy. I just physically can't. It's like it's ingrained in me that I have to know whatever it is I'm going to buy ahead of time.

Once in a while, I'll see something on a shelf... It starts to call to me. I pick it up. I examine it front and back. I think of how much money I have. Then I decide to buy it. Within five seconds I put the item back on the shelf and leave.

Every. Single. Time.

I just CAN'T buy on impulse.

It takes me too long to make a decision, the people I'm shopping with leave before I can "impulse" buy it. And I hate regret over money

Um, with me it depends on my mood. I'm the worst after I've been studying a long time. See, one of my recuperation techniques after a tough school week is to head out to the mall and submerge myself in a sea of humanity, just to remind myself that life goes on beyond all the school work. And if it's been an especially bad week, I think to myself, "OK, self, you like it, you have money, and if the next few weeks are as bad as this one was, you won't have the time to get out to shop for a while. So might as well go ahead and buy it now."

Thankfully, I usually really do like whatever I end up with. And if I don't, there are these wonderful thing called "returns."

My mother is a horrible anti-impulse shopper. She'll pick up something she wants for herself, tote it around the entire store as we complete the shopping for stuff we set out to buy, and then as we start to get into check-out line, she'll talk herself out of getting whatever she wanted, and we have to take it back. It usually follows that it be at the opposite end of the store from check-out. Lol

She can't understand my impulse/uninhibited shopping.
