Ok, I dont know if i've created a poll before, so I hope this works!

Anyways, the question is simple....do you prefer men or women teachers? I'm specifically referring to academic instruction at college or high school. Overall, do you seem to prefer the teaching of women or men professors? *curious*

so yup....VOTE. i'm working on a side theory for something. ^_^ thanks!

What does it matter if they are male or female?

I still prefer women.

I generally do not really care. I have man and woman teachers at my school who are totally awesome at what they teach, and teach it well! And I am able to spark conversation regarding the subject. That's all that really matters.

When I started school in the first grade I had a woman teacher up to forth grade then in fifth I had a male teacher. In sixth grade because our new school building was not finished both sixth grade classes were in the same room with both a male and female teacher.
Middle and high school acourse there were the mix of teachers with the different classes.
In high school I took vocational cooking class and the male teacher I had was a former Marine who operated food serving services before he left and took classes for teaching and culinary classes at schools in New York and Chicago which he show us how to do.
I think he was the one teacher that made a difference in my learning in school.
Maybe for children starting in school a female teacher is a good start and later when they are older learn from male teachers.

I really have no preference, but I kinda like women teachers a bit more. Especially if they're hot like my last social studies teacher in high school.

It depends on the age. My favorite teacher right now is a 23- year- old guy and it feels more like he`s my borther than a teacher.

Well it doesnt really matter, since its the teaching style and the dedication that matters.
My Aunt just happens to be a teacher and I plan to follow in her footsteps =D

men...has nothing to do with me being a girl. just i've had more positive teaching styles from men than I have from women.

No preference. I've had favorite women teachers (7th grade English...:D) and favorite men teachers (10th grade world history :D), so I guess all that really matters to me is that they teach well.

I voted 'none of the above.' I had both favorite women and men teachers all through school. At college however, in my architecture classes, I have preferred the male profs that I have had versus the female profs.

Most of the female profs are of an age that women were just breaking into architecture on a larger scale, and were treated very badly by male associates, causing them to become really tough in order to deal with their poor treatment. And a good deal of the ladies are still hard cases and often downright mean or overdemanding. Of course, not all are.

I count myself very fortunate to be entering into the world of architecture at a time of nearly equal treatment. While men still dominate architecture numberwise, women are becoming more and more common.

I had nothing but female teachers up until the last 2 years of my highschool education and now in college. Female teachers are very nice and all, but I've found that the males are generally much more concentrated on the subjects which they teach. While I appreciate kind teachers, I go to school to learn, not to socialize or anything like that.

Ok, I was goofing around with Option #4 (still, it doesn't hurt though if they're nice to look at).

Really, all I care is their teaching ability and personality. I've had a fair share of good male and female teachers and haven't noticed a gender-related trend in teaching skills.

After giving this a moment's thought, I realized that I honestly have no preference whatsoever, not even a gut-level reaction.

I have no preference either really.

Probably female, but I think it is incredibly important to have male teachers also (as role models etc) especially in this screwed up society.

Most of the male teachers I've had tend to have better teaching styles, but I'm really close to two of my English teachers, and they're both female...so I guess it depends on the person, really. ^^;;

I liked instructors that I could talk with, really. The thing is, you have to approach each individual differently in order to keep the discussion useful. I've enjoyed classes with both men and women - really it depends on teaching ability and the involvement of the professor with the subject.

That said, I'm picking none of the above. Hermaphrodites all the way.

I had this one professor that was very much like a mom-style person. She was new and the whole class was relieved when she was replace with a former student of our first prof in that class who taught much like him. Honestly, is was the teaching style that made the real difference, not the gender.

My field of study, basically office administration, is largely filled with female students. I like having a female professor there. It's like an "us girls thing" plus the few random guys who show up in those classes.

I think with some of my other classes, having a woman professor kind of gives me more of a challenge to rise up to because I feel like they can expect more of me. If I ever write a book though, I'm mentioning my english prof who is a man in the acknowledgements.

I suppose the majority of my favorite professors tend to be women, but really, I think it depends on the teaching style. Of course doing well in the class makes me like any professor a little more. ;)

Well, I've had a fair share of great female teachers and great male teachers, so it's hard to say. But my two favorite teachers so far have been male, so maybe I prefer male teachers. Not sure.

No preference really.

When I had to choose classes in college, the schedule never gave away the first names of the teachers - only their last. So pretty much I had to stick with whatever teacher I got, as long as it was the class I wanted.

I think it is important to have a mix of male and female teachers; for some children (with a single parent), the only male role model they may have is a male teacher. And there are fewer male teachers than female, particularly in primary schools.

That said, I think I prefer male teachers slightly more.

I've had both good and bad male and female teachers. Can't say I really have a preference either way. Just can they communicate their subject well.

i've had some really bad experiences with female teachers in college, and some realy great male teachers, so i said male for that reason.

I prefer having men teachers on subjects like auto, tech/shop, gym.

Other than that.. I think I have no preference.

hmm...interesting results. Most have no preference, and yet those who do have preference generally learn towards men teachers. Sort of leads me to interesting conclusions. Although I admit that my results are hardly scientific.

lol i'll explain that later when i'm less tired. meantime, comment away.
