I have struggled with my Bible reading regimen. It has always seemed to be such a chore for me. Yet, tonight my reading was John 5:1-30. I read through the whole passage, and was just sucked in; verses 16-30 were especially amazing. I thought to myself, "I have to read this again." So I did. The power in the verses is overwhelming. Any one else ever feel this way? I also want to note I am using awesome in it true context; that is, awe inspiring where awe is defined as: A mixed emotion of reverence, respect, dread, and wonder inspired by authority, genius, great beauty, sublimity, or might.

I, too, have felt that way about certain scripture passages, there are some that I keep coming back to because reading them is awe-inspiring. John 1:1-18 and Job 40-41 are like that for me, I cannot read them without feeling a sense of awe. Coming across great passages of scripture is a wonderful experience, and I find nothing more comforting and fascinating than reading about the attributes of God, for He is so awe-inspiring that hearing about who He is and praising Him for being God never gets old.

Acts 5:40-41:

"40 And when they had called in the apostles, they beat them and charged them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. 41Then they left the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the name." [emphasis added]

That passage just made me realize that a selfish American girl I really am. Rejoicing because you're worthy to suffer? Lesee, when was the last time I did that. . .
